PIC
Short for ‘Programmed IC’ – see ‘Programmed IC’ below.
PMS
Short for ‘Professional Monitor Speaker’ - A version of Isobarik. See Isobarik and DMS
Posidriv
A type of screwdriver and screw - also known as a ‘Supadriv’. The screwdriver has a cross head similar to a
‘Phillips’ screwdriver.
Programmed IC
An IC that can be programmed – similar to an EPROM, but can only be programmed once - cannot be re-
programmed. Abbreviated to PIC
Powertek
Linn Power amp. Based on the power amp stage of the Intek integrated amp.
Puck
(Karik, Mimik, Classik, CD12) - Round magnetic clamp which holds the CD in place
Pretek
Linn Pre-amp. Based on the Pre-amp stage of the Intek integrated amp.
Pro-Logic
A Surround Sound system designed by Dolby. Incorporated in the AV5103.
Protection
This is a mode designed into Linn Power Amps whereby the amp shuts down to protect itself if it is working
too hard etc – known as ‘Going into Protection’. Also sometimes known as ‘Trip mode’ or ‘Tripping’. There
are many reasons why this may happen - if it overheats, if there is a problem and too much current is being
drawn, if there is a power supply problem etc etc. See also ‘Trip’
