R
R8S8
Linn Intersekt R8S8 is one of the three types of Intersekt available. The R8S8 distributes 8 sources to 8
rooms and cannot be expanded unlike the other types of Intersekt: SES8 and RER16. See Intersekt
Radio Frequency
Usually abbreviated to ’RF’. A range of frequencies used for radio transmission – these are high frequency
signals, far outside the audible range. Used mainly for the transmission of radio signals but RF is found in
other applications also. ‘RF interference’ is a term used to describe a situation where RF causes a problem
or in some way interferes with the function of a device. This usually occurs only if the RF is very strong or
very close to the device or if the device in question is inadequately shielded (the latter does not apply to any
Linn products).
RAKK 019
Linn part number for our 19inch rack, can be used to house most Linn products – trays available for LK
(standard product size), AV and Kivor products.
RCA Plugs/sockets
See Phono
RCU
Linn Knekt RCU - short for ‘Room control unit’. A small keypad / display unit which can be fitted in the wall or
placed on a desk etc as preferred. This is the brains behind the Knekt system - one of these is required in
every room in a Knekt system (except for main room - optional there) and is programmed for the specific
system used in that application - ie is customised for each and every system in which it is used, by means of
a software upload. By using the Where, What, Do keys, the RCU is used to select which system (local or
main) is listened to (Where), which source product within that system is listened to (What), and to control the
source product (Do) and receives feedback of the Status of the system - all of which is displayed on it’s front
panel. Sneaky version available.
Known by some as a Keypad.
Receiver
Linn Knekt Receiver. Used in a Knekt system in every Secondary room. In conjunction with an RCU, it
receives and processes the Balanced Audio signal from the main room into standard Line Level audio. Also
relays control and feedback signals between the RCU in that room and the main room system. Available in
Standalone (Knekt-R) and Sneaky (Sneaky-R) versions.
RER16
Linn Intersekt RER16 is a Room Expander. Used in conjunction with an SES8, forms an expandable system
which distributes audio from the Main room to other rooms. Each RER16 allows audio/control from Main
room to be distributed to 16 rooms. If more rooms are required, more RER16s can be added up to a
maximum of 128 rooms (8 RER16s). See also Intersekt and SES8.
