Overview

This document is an instruction and installation manual for a Logik 6KG Washing Machine, covering models L612WM16, L612WMB17, and L612WMS17. It provides comprehensive guidance on the safe operation, installation, preparation, wash settings, and maintenance of the appliance.

Function Description

The Logik 6KG Washing Machine is designed for household (domestic) use to wash textiles labeled "washing machine washable" using cold water only. It offers various wash programmes tailored to different fabric types and soiling levels, with a maximum loading capacity of 6.0kg for cotton, 3.0kg for synthetics, and 2.0kg for wool. The machine features a control panel with a programme dial, LED display, and buttons for power, delay, spin speed, temperature, and start/pause. It is equipped with safety features such as a door lock mechanism and a child lock to prevent accidental programme changes.

Usage Features

Installation and Setup: Before first use, the washing machine requires careful installation. This includes choosing a flat, stable surface away from direct sunlight or freezing temperatures, and ensuring adequate space for hose connections. Crucially, four transit bolts, used to secure internal components during transport, must be removed before operation to prevent excessive vibrations and damage. These bolts should be retained for future relocation. The water supply hose connects to a cold water tap, and the drain hose should be secured at a height between 60cm and 100cm from the ground, ensuring no blockages in the waste pipe. The machine must be connected to an independent earthed mains socket rated at least 13 Amp 220V to 240V AC.

Preparation for Washing: Proper preparation of laundry is essential for optimal results and to prevent damage to clothes or the machine. Users should sort laundry by colour, fabric type, and soiling level according to garment labels. It's important not to exceed the maximum load capacity for each programme. Stains should be pre-treated, and delicate items like bras with metal wires or lace clothing should be placed in a cleaning net. Pockets must be checked for objects like nails, pins, or coins, and loose strings should be tied, zippers closed, and clothes with zips turned inside out. Heavy objects like buckles or large buttons should be removed or clothing turned inside out to protect the glass door. Any surplus hair, animal fur, or sand should be brushed off. Clothes that are not colourfast should be washed separately.

Adding Detergent and Softener: Detergent and softener are added to a dedicated drawer with compartments for pre-wash detergent (Compartment I), main wash detergent (Compartment II), and softener. The quantity of detergent and softener should be adjusted based on the wash amount, soiling level, water hardness, and manufacturer's instructions. For excessively dirty clothes, a small amount of detergent can be put in Compartment I, with the rest in Compartment II. Viscous fabric softener should be diluted with water to prevent blockages, and the MAX level in the softener compartment should not be exceeded. Liquid detergents can be used in all programmes.

Wash Settings and Programmes: The programme dial allows selection from various wash programmes, including Cotton Intensive, Cotton 60°, Cotton 40°, Cotton 20°, Express 15', Eco, Rinse & Spin, Baby Care, Sports, Synthetic, Mixed, Delicate, Wool, Drain Only, and Spin Only. The LED display shows delay time, remaining wash time, and indicators for child lock and door lock status. Users can adjust spin speed and temperature for selected programmes using the respective buttons. The "Favorite" function allows saving a preferred setting by pressing for 3 seconds. A "Delay" button enables scheduling the wash to start at a later time.

Child Lock: To prevent children from accidentally changing wash programmes, a child lock feature is available. It is activated by pressing and holding the "Delay" and "Speed" buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The "CHILD LOCKED" icon will illuminate. While active, pressing other function buttons will result in a beep. To deactivate, the "Delay" and "Speed" buttons must be held again until the icon disappears. The child lock deactivates automatically when the programme ends.

Removing Washing: After a programme finishes, the door remains locked for 1 minute. Once unlocked, laundry can be removed. Any foreign objects should be removed from the drum to prevent rusting. It is recommended to leave the door and detergent drawer open after use to allow residual water to evaporate.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning the Drum: Any rust from metal articles inside the drum should be removed immediately using a chlorine-free detergent. After cleaning, a full wash programme (without laundry) should be run. Steel wool should never be used.

Cleaning the Exterior: The exterior of the washing machine can be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild kitchen detergent. Water should not be splashed directly onto the machine, and cream cleansers, thinners, or alcohol/kerosene-based products should be avoided.

Cleaning the Detergent Drawer: The detergent drawer should be regularly cleaned to prevent residue build-up and mould. It can be removed by gently pulling and pressing the rear centre of the softener compartment. Old detergent residue should be washed out with water, and the drawer returned to its original position. The siphon plug within the softener compartment should also be removed and cleaned thoroughly.

Cleaning the Door Seal and Window: After each wash, the window and door seal should be wiped to remove lint and stains, which can otherwise cause leaks. Any coins, buttons, or other objects found in the door seal should be removed.

Cleaning the Drain Filter: The drain filter should be cleaned regularly to prevent blockages. Before cleaning, the machine must be switched off and unplugged. The service panel is opened with a flat-bladed screwdriver, and a container placed underneath to catch water. The filter is carefully loosened, unscrewed, and removed. Lint and debris are then cleared before the filter is screwed back into place and the service panel closed. Caution is advised as water draining from the filter compartment may be hot after a high-temperature wash.

Preventing a Frozen Water Supply Hose: If the washing machine is delivered in freezing conditions, it should be left at room temperature for 24 hours after setup before use. If the water supply hose freezes, 2 or 3 litres of warm water can be added to the drum, followed by running a "Drain Only" programme.

Cleaning the Filter Net of the Water Supply Hose: The filter net on the tap side of the water supply hose should be cleaned periodically. This involves turning off the water supply, running a "Drain" programme, turning off the power, removing the hose from the tap, manually removing and cleaning the filter net with a small brush, returning it to its original position, and re-connecting the hose while checking for leaks.
