Do you have a question about the Louroe Electronics IF-PX and is the answer not in the manual?
The Louroe Electronics IF-PX is a single-zone Power over Ethernet (PoE) in-line interface designed to extract power from an Ethernet connection. This power is then used to supply Louroe microphones, speaker/microphones, and other external devices that require a 12Vdc supply, such as non-PoE IP cameras and encoders.
The IF-PX acts as a bridge, enabling PoE-powered devices to supply power to non-PoE devices while also facilitating audio transmission. It supports both one-way and two-way audio, making it versatile for various monitoring and communication setups. The unit is compatible with most commercial-grade, line-level unbalanced microphones.
For PoE IP camera or encoder connections, the IF-PX receives Ethernet cable from a Power Source Equipment (PSE) to its Power+Data Input Jack. Another Ethernet cable connects from the camera to the IF-PX's Power+Data Output Jack, allowing power and data to flow to the camera. A green Power Indicator light confirms that power is present.
When connecting a microphone for one-way listening, a 2-conductor shielded cable connects the Louroe Verifact microphone to the Mic/Speaker Audio Terminal Block of the IF-PX. Specifically, terminal A of the microphone connects to terminal A of the IF-PX, terminal B to terminal B, and terminal C to terminal C. The SP terminal of the IF-PX is not used in this configuration. A stereo patch cable then connects the Audio Output Jack of the IF-PX to the audio input of the camera. The audio output gain of the microphone can be adjusted using the Mic Out Adjust potentiometer, which can be rotated clockwise to increase or counterclockwise to decrease the output. This potentiometer is factory-set for a 0dB output gain.
For two-way audio with an AOP-SP series speaker/microphone unit, a 3-conductor shielded cable connects the AOP-SP to the Mic/Speaker Audio Terminal Block of the IF-PX. Terminal A of the AOP-SP connects to terminal A of the IF-PX, terminal B to terminal B, terminal C to terminal C, and terminal SP to terminal SP. A stereo patch cable connects the Audio Output Jack of the IF-PX to the audio input of the camera or encoder, and another stereo patch cable connects the Audio Input Jack of the IF-PX to the audio output of the camera or encoder. It's crucial to ensure all Ethernet cables between the PSE, IF-PX, and camera are connected before connecting the AOP-SP series.
For non-PoE IP cameras or encoders, the IF-PX receives Ethernet cable from a non-PoE switch to its Power+Data Input Jack. Another Ethernet cable connects from the encoder or camera to the Data Out Only Jack of the IF-PX. The DC Out Terminal Block of the IF-PX supplies 12Vdc power to the camera or encoder, as well as other external equipment requiring 12Vdc. Two wires (at least 20 AWG) connect the +12Vdc and GND terminals of the IF-PX's DC Out Terminal Block to the power jack or terminal block of the encoder or camera. If the encoder or camera has a 2.1mm power jack, an adapter (2-pin terminal block to 2.1mm male plug) can be used, ensuring correct polarity. An external 12Vdc, 2A power supply (not included) is required to power the IF-PX and the connected encoder or camera, connecting to the DC In Jack. The same procedures for connecting a Louroe Verifact microphone or AOP-SP (steps 3 through 5 from the previous page) are then followed.
The IF-PX is designed for straightforward installation and operation. It comes with two 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male audio cables for connecting to an IP camera or encoder. The unit supports both Mode A and Mode B power options of IEEE802.3af, offering flexibility in PoE deployments. Outputs are provided for both PoE (Power+Data) and non-PoE (Data Only) cameras and encoders. The audio output features variable gain control, allowing users to fine-tune the microphone's output level to the camera.
The device is built with user convenience in mind, utilizing terminal blocks for easy wiring of microphones and speaker/microphones. The inclusion of a Power Indicator light provides immediate visual confirmation of power status. The IF-PX is capable of powering most IP cameras and encoders, provided their power requirements do not exceed the IF-PX's output capabilities. Specifically, it can deliver 12Vdc, 650mA with an AOP-SP connected, or 12Vdc, 850mA with a Louroe microphone only connected.
The IF-PX incorporates built-in thermal, overload, and short-circuit protection. These features safeguard the unit from damage due to overcurrent and over-temperature conditions. In the event of a fault, the unit will automatically shut down and then turn back on once the fault is cleared, ensuring reliable and continuous operation. This self-protection mechanism minimizes the need for manual intervention and helps prolong the lifespan of the device.
