Overview

The LSC1264 is a 1200 lb, 64" Beam Jet Lift designed for personal watercraft (PWC) and other small watercraft. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for assembly, operation, and maintenance to ensure years of trouble-free service.

Function Description:

The LSC1264 Jet Lift is a mechanical device used to raise and lower a personal watercraft out of the water for storage, maintenance, or protection from environmental factors. It operates via a hand-cranked winch system, which manipulates a cable to lift the cradle on which the watercraft rests. The lift is designed to be installed in water, with adjustable legs to accommodate varying water depths and ensure a level setup. The braking mechanism, activated by threading the red wheel onto the winch shaft, allows the lift to remain in a raised position. To lower the lift, the wheel is turned counter-clockwise, releasing the brake. The bunks, which support the watercraft, are adjustable to accommodate different hull shapes and provide stability.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Capacity: 1200 lbs
  • Beam: 64 inches
  • Lift Height: 35 inches
  • Winch: 1500# capacity, hand-cranked with a 25" red wheel.
  • Cable: 3/16" x 252"
  • Cradle Length: 60.5 inches
  • Pulley Bar Length: 63 inches
  • Bunk Type: Vinyl wrapped aluminum bunks
  • Construction: Primarily aluminum structure with various mechanical components and hardware.

Usage Features:

  • Manual Operation: The lift is operated by a hand-cranked winch, providing simple and reliable control over lifting and lowering.
  • Brake Mechanism: A crucial safety feature, the brake is activated by threading the red wheel onto the winch shaft. Turning the wheel clockwise raises the lift and engages the brake, holding the lift in position. Turning it counter-clockwise releases the brake, allowing the lift to lower.
  • Adjustable Legs: The lift's legs can be adjusted to ensure the lift is level in varying water depths. They can also be removed if the water is very shallow.
  • Adjustable Bunks: The vinyl-wrapped aluminum bunks can be adjusted in position to accommodate different hull shapes, such as deep V hulls, by moving them closer or farther apart to provide optimal support and stability for the watercraft. For most uses, bunks should be placed approximately 18" apart.
  • Easy Assembly: The manual provides a step-by-step guide for assembly, including a list of tools needed (adjustable wrenches, 1/2", 9/16", 3/4", and 7/16" wrenches) and detailed instructions for each component.
  • Safety Decals: An extra caution decal is provided in the accessories box to ensure that safety warnings are clearly visible to all users.
  • Stop Positions: The lift has defined stop positions for maximum height. Users are cautioned not to crank past these points to prevent damage to the lift and potential injury.
  • Cable Stringing: The cable is strung inside the pulley bar and secured to the winch, with specific instructions for routing when the winch is mounted on the starboard side.

Maintenance Features:

  • Annual Winch Shaft Greasing: The winch shaft should be greased annually to ensure the red wheel threads on and off easily, which is essential for the proper functioning of the brake mechanism.
  • Cable Inspection: Regular visual inspection of the cable for wear or fraying is critical. A frayed or rusted cable can lead to lift failure and must be replaced immediately. Greasing the cable, especially where it enters the winch, can extend its life.
  • Sheave Inspection: Sheaves (pulleys) should also be visually inspected for wear or fraying.
  • General Inspection: Users are advised to inspect the lift frequently for any signs of wear or improper operation. Any increase in cranking force may indicate a problem, and worn or damaged parts should be replaced immediately.
  • Nut and Bolt Tightening: All nuts and bolts should be installed loosely during assembly and then properly tightened once the lift is fully assembled. Care should be taken not to overtighten, especially against aluminum tubes, to prevent crushing or cracking.
  • Warranty: The aluminum structure of the lift is covered by a ten-year limited warranty against defects in material or workmanship. Other materials, including cast aluminum parts, mechanical components, hardware, canopy covers, cables, and bunks, are covered for two years. This warranty emphasizes proper assembly, maintenance, and use, as damage from incorrect assembly, overloading, improper use, or neglect is not covered.

Safety Precautions:

  • Read Manual: Do not operate the hoist without first studying the owner's manual.
  • No People on Lift: Never operate the lift with people on board the boat or near any part of the lift.
  • No Working/Playing: Never work or play on, around, or under the lift.
  • Rated Capacity: Never exceed the rated capacity of the lift (1200 lbs).
  • Winch Wheel Safety: Do not attempt to stop the spinning winch wheel, as this can cause serious personal injury. The lift wheel must be turned clockwise for lifting. Turning it counter-clockwise will result in an uncontrolled spin down, potentially leading to cable failure and serious injury.
  • Cross-Threading: Extreme care must be taken not to cross-thread or damage the threads on the wheel hub, as this will void the warranty.
  • Environmental Protection: The lift protects the watercraft when lifted well above the water level. In larger lakes or during storms, large waves can still damage the craft or tip the lift over. Users must take precautions to protect their craft and lift from these conditions.
