The gas lever may be assembled incorrectly, requiring adjustment. If the surface is too wet, the compactor could be getting stuck, so allow the foundation to dry up. The belt might not be tight enough, causing it to skid; adjust the belt tension or replace it, and check the motor bolts for proper pulling. Lastly, dirty air filters can also reduce performance, so clean or replace them.
