Guava® easyCyte™ Maintenance Guide
For the Guava® easyCyte™ and easyCyte™ HT systems
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Use this quick start guide when cleaning, running Guava easyCheck,
and replacing the flow cell for your Guava easyCyte or easyCyte HT
System. For detailed instructions on using the system, refer to the
appropriate Guava easyCyte System User’s Guide.
Running Guava® Clean
Run Guava® Clean at the start and end of the day, between assays if
needed, and to prime the fluid system if you suspect air in the fluid
lines. If running lysed whole blood, run two Guava Clean cycles.
Guava® easyCyte™ Systems
1. Click Cleaning from the main menu.
2. Click Start Cleaning.
3. Place a tube containing 10% bleach in Guava® ICF and a tube of
DI water in the sample holder.
4. Load the tube of DI water and click OK.
5. When prompted, load the tube of bleach in ICF and click OK.
6. When prompted, load a tube of fresh water and click OK.
Guava® easyCyte™ HT Systems
1. Click Cleaning from the main menu.
2. Click Start Clean.
3. Load the following tubes:
• Seven tubes filled with DI water in positions w1, w2, w3, w4,
w5, w6, and tube position 1
• 100 μL of 100% bleach in tube position 2
• Two tubes of Guava® ICF in tube positions 3 and 4
• Tube of DI water in any tube position 5–9 for capillary shut-
down
4. Click to select the capillary shutdown position on the plate
map, then click OK.
5. If you are shutting down the instrument, click Capillary Shut-
down from the Guava Clean screen. Select a tube from posi-
tions 5 through 9 that contains of tube of DI water and click
OK.
Running easyCheck™
Prepare a 1:20 dilution of Guava® easyCheck™ beads. Refer to the
Guava easyCheck Kit User’s Guide for information. Refer to the
appropriate Guava easyCyte™ System User’s Guide for information
on easyCheck results.
Guava® easyCyte™ Systems
1. Click easyCheck from the main menu.
2. Enter the Bead Lot #, Bead Expiration date, and Expected Parti-
cles/mL.
3. Mix the easyCheck™ bead sample and load it on the instru-
ment. Click Run 1st Replicate.
4. Remove the sample, mix it, then reload it. Click Run 2nd Repli-
cate.
5. Remove the sample, mix it again, then reload it. Click Run 3rd
Replicate.
Guava® easyCyte™ HT Systems
1. Click easyCheck from the main menu.
2. Enter the Bead Lot #, Bead Expiration date, and Expected Parti-
cles/mL.
3. Click Start.
4. Load the following tubes:
• DI water in positions w2, w4, and w5
• Empty tubes in positions w3 and w6
• 100 μL of 100% bleach in position w1
• easyCheck™ bead sample in any tube or well position
5. Click to select the tube location containing the beads, then click
OK.
