BJZ SERIES STAINLESS
STEEL SELF-PRIMING JET PUMP
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
1.Specification
This manual has been conceived to offer the adequate information on the installation, operation and maintenance of our
electro pumps. We suggest you read it thoroughly. These are centrifugal horizontal electro pumps with self-priming capacity
and supplied with century system so to reach suctions of up to 9 mts. Connect a foot valve and the pump will get an im-
0
mediately self-priming.They have been designed to operate with clean water at a maximum temper-ature of 45 C.
Operating with any kind of water, other than that just described should be avoided. These pumps have been built with
first quality materials which submitted to strict hydraulic and electric controls and verified thoroughly.
Following these present instructions and the electrical chart, will help you to achieve a correct installation. If failure to do
this could result in motor overcharge and any other consequences, which we wish to be relieved of.
2.Installation
The electric pumps must be placed as possible to the water level in order to obtain the minimum suction lift and
reduce the loss of head. If the installation is be permanent. pump should be attached to the floor or ground using
the holes pump bracket.
They should be installed in dry place and safe form any possible flooding.
3.Pipe assembly
The suction pipe must be resistant to depression and be kept submerged 30 cms below water level to prevent the formation
of whirs and its inscrutability consequence: Air leaks if suction lift is over 7 mts. the use of a pipe of a bigger diameter than
the admission port of the pump is recommended. the unions or connections must be absolutely water-tight. It is recom-
mended to reduce pipe bends to the minimum inclination of 2%. The discharge pipe should have a diameter equal or
bigger than of the pump outlet. In any case should the suction or discharge pipes rest on top of the pump.

Overview

This document describes the BJZ Series Stainless Steel Self-Priming Jet Pump, an electro-pump designed for various water pumping applications.

Function Description

The BJZ Series pumps are centrifugal horizontal electro-pumps with self-priming capabilities, designed to reach suctions of up to 9 meters. When connected with a foot valve, the pump achieves immediate self-priming. These pumps are intended for use with clean water at a maximum temperature of 45°C. Operating with any other type of water is not recommended. The pumps are constructed from high-quality materials and undergo strict hydraulic and electric controls to ensure reliability.

The pump's primary function is to draw water from a source and deliver it under pressure. It is suitable for applications requiring a consistent water supply, such as domestic water systems, irrigation, or small-scale industrial uses. The self-priming feature simplifies installation and operation, as it eliminates the need for manual priming after initial setup or after the pump has been drained.

Important Technical Specifications

The BJZ Series pumps are available in several models, each with different power outputs and flow characteristics. The models include:

  • BJZ037(T): 0.37 kW
  • BJZ060(T): 0.55 kW
  • BJZ75(T): 0.55 kW
  • BJZ100(T): 0.75 kW
  • BJZ150(T): 1.0 kW

All models feature a bore of 1 inch for both inlet and outlet. The maximum suction capability is 8.5 meters for BJZ037(T) and BJZ060(T), and 9 meters for BJZ75(T), BJZ100(T), and BJZ150(T).

The performance curves provided in the manual illustrate the relationship between head (pressure) and flow rate for each model. For example, at a flow rate of 1.2 m³/h (20 l/min), the BJZ037(T) can achieve a head of approximately 23 meters, while the BJZ150(T) can achieve a head of approximately 39 meters. As the flow rate increases, the achievable head generally decreases.

The pumps are designed for 220V/60Hz or 110V/60Hz electrical systems, with models available upon request for different voltage requirements. The single-phase motors incorporate built-in thermal protection to prevent overheating.

Usage Features

Installation:

  • Placement: The pump should be placed as close as possible to the water level to minimize suction lift and reduce head loss. For permanent installations, the pump should be securely attached to the floor or ground using its bracket holes.
  • Environment: Installation should be in a dry place, safe from potential flooding.
  • Pipe Assembly: The suction pipe must be resistant to depression and submerged at least 30 cm below the water level to prevent vortex formation and air ingress. For suction lifts over 7 meters, using a pipe with a larger diameter than the pump's admission port is recommended. All connections must be absolutely watertight. Pipe bends should be minimized, and the inclination should not exceed 2%. The discharge pipe should have a diameter equal to or larger than the pump outlet. Neither the suction nor discharge pipes should rest on top of the pump.
  • Electrical Connection: The electrical installation must include multiple separations with contact openings of at least 3 mm. System protection should be provided by a differential switch (1fn=30mA). The electric cable must comply with EEC(2) norm or type H07 RN-F according to VDE 0250.

Controls Prior to Initial Starting:

  • Verify that the electric supply's tension and frequency match the pump's technical specifications label.
  • Ensure the shaft rotates freely.
  • Fill the pump body with water by slightly unscrewing the priming plug.
  • Verify the motor's rotation direction as indicated on the fan cover.
  • Crucially, the pump should NEVER be dry operated.

Starting:

  • Open all gate valves installed in the suction line.
  • Connect the electric supply switch and wait for the priming process to complete. If a foot valve is installed, priming will be instantaneous.
  • If the motor fails to start or does not deliver water, refer to the "Trouble Shooting" section of the manual.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues:

  • Motor does not start/starts and stops continuously: Possible causes include a blocked pump, clogged foot valve, or total manometric head higher than expected. Solutions involve disconnecting the pump and taking it to official technical service, cleaning or replacing the foot valve, or verifying geometric head and loss of head.
  • Flow is insufficient: This can be caused by wrong tension, low water level in the well/tank, or worn impellers. Solutions include checking the tension, verifying suction head, or disconnecting the pump and taking it to service.
  • No suction/Motor runs but gives no pressure: This can be due to an unsubmerged foot valve. Ensure the suction pipe is submerged.
  • Motor over-heating/Motor starts and stops continuously: Can be caused by wrong tension. Check that the tension matches the technical characteristics label.
  • Motor does not start: Possible causes include a disconnected fuse or thermal relay. Change the fuse or thermal relay.

Maintenance Features

The BJZ Series electro-pumps generally do not require special maintenance. However, during periods of low temperatures or extended inactivity, the pump body should be drained. If inactivity lasts longer, the pump should be cleaned and stored in a dry, aired place. This prevents potential damage from freezing and ensures the pump remains in good working condition for future use.

Safety Information:

The manual uses symbols to indicate risk levels:

  • DANGER (risk of electric shock): Warns that failure to observe precautions involves a risk of electric shock.
  • DANGER (risk of damage to persons and/or things): Warns that failure to observe precautions involves a risk of damage to persons and/or property.
  • WARNING (risk of damaging the pump and/or the plant): Warns that failure to observe precautions involves a risk of damaging the pump and/or the installation.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance. Damaged supply cords must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent, or similarly qualified person to avoid hazards.
