Overview

The CR-XBT Multimedia Monitors are designed to provide studio-quality sound for various applications, including home studios, content creation, gaming, and general audio listening. These monitors are available in a range of sizes and offer Bluetooth connectivity, with an optional 8" subwoofer (CR8S-XBT) for enhanced bass.

Function Description:

The CR-XBT monitors are active (powered) speakers, meaning they have built-in amplification. They are designed to be used in pairs, with one monitor containing the amplifier and controls (the "powered speaker") and the other being a "passive speaker" that connects to the powered unit.

The primary function of these monitors is to reproduce audio from various sources with accuracy and clarity. They feature multiple input options, including 1/4" TRS (balanced/unbalanced), RCA (unbalanced), and a 1/8" stereo input (on CR5-XBT and CR8-XBT models), allowing connection to computers, mixers, smartphones, and other audio devices.

A key feature is the integrated Bluetooth connectivity, enabling wireless streaming of music from any Bluetooth-enabled device. This provides flexibility for users who want to play audio without physical cables.

The monitors also include a front-facing headphone output, which automatically mutes the speaker output when headphones are plugged in. This allows for private listening and the front panel volume knob controls the headphone level.

Usage Features:

  • Flexible Setup: The CR-XBT monitors offer a "Powered Speaker Position Select" switch on the rear panel. This allows the user to choose whether the powered monitor (with the volume knob) is placed on the left or right side of their desk, optimizing cable management and user convenience.
  • Front Panel Control: A prominent volume knob on the front panel of the powered monitor serves multiple purposes: it controls the overall output volume, acts as the power on/off switch (by turning it fully counter-clockwise until it "clicks" off), and illuminates to indicate power status.
  • Bluetooth Pairing and Connection: The "Running Man" logo on the front panel doubles as a Bluetooth button. Pressing and releasing it initiates pairing mode, indicated by a flashing green light. Once paired, the light remains solid white. The monitors can automatically reconnect to previously paired devices when in range. The Bluetooth button can also be used to pause/play audio from a connected Bluetooth device.
  • Input Versatility: With 1/4" TRS, RCA, and 1/8" stereo inputs (on select models), the monitors can accommodate a wide array of audio sources. The 1/4" inputs support both balanced and unbalanced connections, with balanced connections offering better noise rejection, especially for longer cable runs.
  • Speaker-to-Speaker Connection: The passive speaker connects to the powered speaker using included speaker wire, ensuring a simple and direct setup.
  • Acoustic Isolation (Optional): For CR5-XBT and CR8-XBT models, acoustic isolation pads are included. These pads help minimize unwanted bass build-up from desk surfaces and provide up/down tilt control for more focused listening, improving the overall sound quality.
  • Custom-Tuned Rear Port: The monitors feature a custom-tuned rear port designed to extend the low-frequency response of the speaker, contributing to a fuller and more accurate bass sound.
  • Season Knob (CR-XBT Specific): A unique "Season Knob" is present on the front panel, allowing users to adjust the sound profile. While it has four main "season" settings (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter), the in-between settings also offer subtle variations, providing a degree of tonal customization to suit personal preferences or listening environments.

Maintenance Features:

  • Simple Cleaning: The cabinets can be cleaned with a dry cloth. It is important to ensure the power is turned off before cleaning to prevent any electrical hazards.
  • Environmental Considerations: To ensure longevity and reliable performance, it is recommended to avoid exposing the monitors to moisture and extreme cold (below freezing temperatures).
  • Troubleshooting Guidance: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting section covering common issues such as no power, no sound, poor sound quality, and noise/hum/buzz. This guides users through basic checks like verifying power connections, input levels, cable integrity, and speaker placement.
  • Warranty and Service Information: Detailed information regarding the product warranty and service procedures is provided, including contact details for technical support and instructions on how to obtain warranty or non-warranty service. Users are advised to retain their sales receipt and original packaging for warranty claims.
