The Magmatic Magma Prime is a professional-grade fog and haze machine designed for use by professionally trained personnel. It is not suitable for private use. This device is engineered to produce atmospheric effects, such as fog and haze, for various applications.
The Magma Prime operates by heating a specialized fluid to create a visible output. It features a 700W rated power system and is capable of producing a maximum output of 4,000 cubic feet per minute (CFM). The machine has an initial ready time of approximately 6 minutes, after which it is prepared to emit fog or haze. It utilizes a fluid reservoir with a capacity of 0.345 gallons (1.3 liters) and consumes fluid at a rate of 0.115 oz/min (3.4 ml/min). The device is designed to be used exclusively with Atmosity Extreme Filtered water-based smoke and haze fluid (AEF-4L).
The Magma Prime incorporates a thermally protected heat exchanger and advanced HPA (High Pressure Air) pump technology to ensure efficient and reliable operation. It also includes an energy-saving mode with an auto-clean process, contributing to its longevity and performance. The fluid reservoir is sealed, and an external visual fluid level detection system allows for easy monitoring of fluid levels. The compact and lightweight mobile design enhances its portability and ease of placement.
Control of the Magma Prime is facilitated through an onboard LCD touch control panel. Users can select from three DMX channel modes (1/3/5) and the device supports DMX-512 and RDM protocols. For enhanced control flexibility, optional MagFly Wireless DMX Transceiver and MagRF Wireless Wired Remotes are available. The device features locking 5-pin XLR connectors for DMX In/Out and an IP65 locking power connector for secure power connection. It also includes a wired digital communication network for remote control.
The system menu, accessible via the touch screen, allows for comprehensive configuration. Users can set DMX addresses and modes, manage MagApp and MagFly settings, and configure various operational parameters. The "Personality" menu offers options for display blackout time, MagFly channel settings, and activation of a "no fluid" warning. It also allows users to activate/deactivate the last state and restore factory settings.
The "Manual" control menu provides direct adjustment of fog output (1-100%) and fan speed (20-100%). The "Timer" menu enables precise control over fog output, fan speed, interval (0-2500s), and duration (0-250s) settings for automated operation. The device also includes several preset settings with predefined durations, intervals, fog, and fan percentages, though these presets are not adjustable.
The "Information" menu provides real-time status updates on various parameters, including machine status, last control method, MagRemote state, MagApp connection status, MagApp IP address, MagFly channel setting, DMX address and mode, timer output and fan speed, timer interval and duration, heating process status, fluid tank status, heater status, LCD version, and software version.
To set up the Magma Prime, users must first remove all packing material, especially around the nozzle. The machine should be placed on a flat, dry surface. The fluid reservoir cap is then removed, and the reservoir is filled with Atmosity Extreme Filtered water-based smoke and haze fluid. After filling, the cap must be replaced and tightened. The unit is connected to a matching power supply, and the power switch is set to "ON." Upon power application, the fan will start, and the machine will begin heating, indicated by "HEATING" and a heating percentage on the display. The machine takes approximately 6 minutes to reach its operating temperature, after which the display will show "READY."
To emit haze, users select their desired operating mode using the touch screen display. The control panel features intuitive navigation icons for "BACK/EXIT," "UP," "DOWN," and "ENTER" to move through menus and confirm adjustments. For timer-based fogging, the "TIMER" sub-menu allows for adjustments to fog output, fan speed, duration, and interval. Once settings are made, the "PLAY/START" button initiates timer fogging.
The device is designed for indoor and dry locations only and should not be exposed to rain, moisture, or liquid immersion. Adequate ventilation is crucial, with a recommended clearance of 40 inches (100cm) above and around the unit. It is important to never leave the unit unattended while plugged in and to unplug it during long periods of non-use. The tank and cooler must be empty before storage or transport, and the unit should not be moved when filled with water and ice. Power must be disconnected before adding water or performing maintenance.
The Magma Prime is designed with no user-serviceable parts inside, and users are explicitly warned against attempting any repairs themselves, as this will void the manufacturer's warranty. All maintenance and repair procedures must be referred to an authorized vendor or technician.
For storage, the fog machine should be kept in a cool area and covered to prevent dust buildup. To maintain the machine's performance and extend its lifespan, it is highly recommended to run the machine at least every 3-4 months. Long periods of inactivity can severely shorten the machine's life. Only Atmosity Extreme Filtered Fog Fluid (AEF-4L) should be used. Running plain water, vinegar, or any other liquid solution through the machine will severely damage it.
The device includes a breaker for electrical protection. In case of low output, pump noise, or no fog output, users should immediately disconnect the power and discontinue use. After checking the fluid level, the breaker, and the wall outlet for power, if the unit still fails to operate correctly, it will require service from Magmatic Effects. Regular cleaning of the unit prior to storage is also advised to prevent damage.
