Overview

Makita Mixer M6600

This document serves as the instruction manual for the Makita Mixer M6600, providing essential information for its safe and effective operation, maintenance, and assembly. The mixer is designed for mixing wall materials and similar substances, excluding flammable materials.

Function Description

The Makita Mixer M6600 is a corded power tool designed for mixing various materials. Its primary function is to provide a powerful and controlled mixing action through a rotating mixing blade. The tool features a switch trigger for starting and stopping, with a lock button for continuous operation, enhancing operator comfort during extended use.

Switch Action:

  • Starting: Pull the switch trigger.
  • Stopping: Release the switch trigger.
  • Continuous Operation: Pull the switch trigger, push in the lock button, and then release the switch trigger.
  • Stopping from Locked Position: Pull the switch trigger fully, then release it.

The mixer is designed with double insulation, which means it has two layers of insulating material or one layer of reinforced insulation between live parts and accessible parts. This design eliminates the need for an earth wire, allowing it to be used from sockets without an earth connection.

Usage Features

The Makita Mixer M6600 is designed for user comfort and efficiency, incorporating several features to facilitate its operation:

Assembly:

  • Installing Shaft: The shaft is tightened into the shaft holder using a wrench until the hex nut contacts the shaft holder.
  • Installing Mixing Blades (Country Specific): The mixing blade is installed on top of the shaft with the "UP" mark facing the tool (directing inside) and secured with a hex bolt.
  • Installing Top Grip (Auxiliary Handle): The top grip is screwed onto the tool securely, providing an additional point of control.
  • Installing Back Grip (Country Specific): The back grip involves inserting leaf springs into the groove of a handle part with bosses, attaching them to the bottom of the tool housing, and then securing both handle parts with screws. This auxiliary handle is crucial for maintaining a firm grip during operation.

Operation (Mixing):

  • Firm Footing: Always ensure a firm footing when operating the tool.
  • Auxiliary Handles: Always use the top or back grip (auxiliary handle) and firmly hold the tool by both the top/back grip and the switch handle during operations.
  • Material Placement: Place the mixing blade fully under the material before turning on the tool, ensuring work site safety.
  • Mixing Technique: Move the mixing blade up and down during the operation to ensure the entire material is thoroughly mixed.
  • Finishing: When mixing is complete, turn off the tool, wait for the mixing blade to come to a complete stop, and then pull it out of the vessel.

Safety Warnings (General Power Tool Safety):

  • Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean, well-lit, and free from explosive atmospheres. Keep children and bystanders away.
  • Electrical Safety: Ensure power tool plugs match the outlet. Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Do not abuse the cord.
  • Personal Safety: Stay alert, use common sense, and wear personal protective equipment (eye protection, dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection). Prevent unintentional starting. Remove adjusting keys/wrenches before turning on. Do not overreach. Dress properly. Connect dust extraction/collection facilities if provided.
  • Power Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct tool for the application. Do not use the tool if the switch is faulty. Disconnect from power source before adjustments or accessory changes. Store idle tools out of reach of children. Maintain tools properly. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Use the tool, accessories, and bits according to instructions and working conditions.

Mixer Specific Safety Warnings:

  • Auxiliary Handle(s): Use auxiliary handle(s) if supplied to prevent loss of control and personal injury.
  • Insulated Gripping Surfaces: Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing operations where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord to avoid electric shock.
  • Flammable Materials: Do not use the mixer to mix flammable materials such as paint with thinner as a solvent, as this may cause injury.
  • Splashing: Avoid mixing with the blade floating out of the material to prevent splashing.
