Why won't my Makita PLM4626 engine start?
- JJoshua FrancisAug 7, 2025
Several factors can prevent your Makita Lawn Mower engine from starting. It could be due to the throttle choke being incorrectly positioned, an empty fuel tank (fill it, consulting the engine owner's manual), a dirty air cleaner element (clean it, consulting the engine owner's manual), a loose spark plug (tighten to 25-30 Nm), a loose or disconnected spark plug wire (install it), an incorrect spark plug gap (set it to 0.7 to 0.8 mm), a defective spark plug (install a new, correctly gapped one, consulting the engine owner's manual), or a carburetor flooded with fuel (remove the air cleaner element and pull the starter rope until it clears, then reinstall the element). If none of these resolve the issue, the ignition module may be faulty, and you should contact a service agent.
