Overview

The Mann Lake HH-200 is a 6/3 Frame Motorized Extractor, designed for efficient honey extraction from bee frames. It operates on 110 volts and is suitable for both hobbyist and small-scale commercial beekeepers.

Function Description:

The primary function of the HH-200 extractor is to remove honey from uncapped bee frames using centrifugal force. The motorized operation spins the frames, causing the honey to be flung out and collect at the bottom of the extractor tank, from where it can be drained.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: HH-200
  • Frame Capacity:
    • Holds 6 frames of 5⅜" (13.67 cm) size (radially).
    • Holds 3 frames of 6½" (15.88 cm) size.
    • Holds 3 frames of 9⅛" (23.18 cm) size.
  • Motor: Motorized with a variable speed control.
  • Voltage: 110 VOLT.
  • Construction: The extractor tank is made of stainless steel, and the legs are designed for stability.
  • Safety Features: Includes a Safety Stop on the lid to prevent dislodgement during operation.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly:
    • Attach the legs to the top of the extractor can using provided nuts and an adjustable wrench.
    • Attach leg supports to each leg with provided nuts.
    • The "feet" of the legs have holes for mounting the extractor to a stable surface, such as a 4' x 4' (121.92 cm x 121.92 cm) piece of plywood.
    • Attach the lid by inserting one side of the plastic cover into the hinge on the crossbar and sliding the lid into the closed portion. Repeat for the front lid.
    • Install the Safety Stop on the front right-hand side of the lid by placing it on the threaded bolt and tightening with a ½" or 13mm socket. The Safety Stop is crucial for safe operation and must be in place.
  • Preparation:
    • Ensure the basket's allen screws, located along the shaft at the top and bottom, are tightened before use. If the shaft spins but the basket does not, these screws need retightening.
    • Frames must be uncapped before extraction.
    • Balance the load inside the extractor for proper basket rotation.
  • Extraction Process (Wax Foundation):
    • For 9⅛" (23.18 cm) or 6¼" (15.8 cm) frames with wax foundation, set the speed control to "20."
    • Run the extractor for 2-3 minutes on "20," then "50," and 4-5 minutes on "90."
    • After this, move the switch to "0," wait for the basket to stop, and flip the frames to extract the second side.
    • Repeat the same 3-minute extraction process for side 2 on each setting.
    • If necessary, repeat the process for side 1 to remove any remaining honey. Rotating frames helps prevent blowouts in the wax foundation due to honey weight.
  • Extraction Process (Plastic Foundation):
    • For plastic foundation, both sides can be extracted 100% before turning.
    • Run for 5 minutes each on "20," "50," and "80."
    • Then, switch to "90-100" for an additional 10-15 minutes before flipping frames.
  • Extraction Process (Radial Placement - 5⅜" frames):
    • For 5⅜" (13.67 cm) frames placed radially, turning is not necessary.
    • Run for 5 minutes each with the dial on "20," "50," and "80."
    • Then, switch to "90-100" for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  • Honey Drainage: Keep the honey gate open during extraction to ensure the basket moves freely. The extractor is not designed for honey storage; promptly transfer honey to a storage or bottling tank.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Wash all equipment before use.
    • Use warm to hot water and a soft cloth for cleaning.
    • Avoid rough or abrasive materials on the extractor.
    • A small amount of dish soap can be used if needed.
    • Disassembly is not required for cleaning. If disassembly is performed, be aware of the small ball bearing where the shaft meets the bottom of the extractor.
  • Warranty: One Year Limited Warranty from Mann Lake, covering defects in materials and workmanship from the purchase date. This warranty is the sole written or express warranty, excluding implied warranties of merchantability and fitness. Mann Lake's obligation is limited to repair or replacement, and it is not liable for incidental or consequential damages.
