General information – blind rivets for any purpose in fastening
• Blind rivets must be easy to deform, so they are mostly made of corrosion-resistant, but
relatively soft aluminium. The ideal blind rivet for your purpose will depend on material
and fastening strength requirements as well as fastening diameter and material
thickness.
• You should only use steel rivets where you need an extremely strong fastening as driving
the rivet will require far more force. Rivets in high-quality stainless steel are available for
situations requiring both corrosion resistance and resistance against acids. Copper and
polymer-coated rivets are also available for corresponding applications. There are also
rivets that are extremely water resistant and electrical insulators.
• The standard head is used for decorative appearance. A countersunk head, on the other
hand, is ideal for smooth surfaces.
