This document describes the KF-6 device, a battery-operated alarm system with various security and convenience features.
The KF-6 is primarily a personal identification number (PIN) protected alarm system designed to detect movement and trigger an alarm. It also includes a visitor chime function for convenience.
The core function of the device is to provide security by detecting movement within a specified area. Users can arm the alarm using a PIN, and if movement is detected while armed, it will trigger an audible alarm. The system incorporates adjustable entry and exit delays to allow users to arm/disarm the device without triggering the alarm themselves. It also features an "Intruder Alert" mode, which provides an audible beep tone instead of a flashing LED during the entry delay if the alarm has been previously triggered, indicating a prior intrusion.
In addition to its alarm capabilities, the KF-6 offers a visitor chime function. When activated in DISARM mode, the device will play a "Ding-Dong" chime twice each time it senses movement, serving as an alert for visitors entering or exiting a protected area.
For emergencies, the device includes a panic alarm feature. By simultaneously pressing the "F" function key and the "lock" key, an immediate alarm can be triggered, sounding for 30 seconds.
The device operates on 3 "AA" batteries (not included). Alkaline batteries are recommended for best performance.
The alarm unit provides an average detection coverage of 20 feet within an 89-degree arc.
The unit is designed to be desk and wall mountable. For optimal detection coverage, it should be placed or mounted 3 to 7 feet above the floor.
The alarm duration can be set to either 30 or 60 seconds.
The entry delay can be adjusted to 3, 15, or 30 seconds.
The exit delay can be adjusted to 10, 20, or 30 seconds.
To install batteries, a screw must be removed from the bottom of the unit to unlock and slide off the battery cover. After inserting 3 "AA" batteries, the unit will emit two beeps. The battery cover should then be refitted. If the key tone is not heard or is dull after pressing a key, the batteries should be replaced.
The pre-set code for the device is 333. To set a new PIN, the user must press the "F" function key, enter 333 (the red LED will illuminate), and then enter their desired 3-digit code within 15 seconds. The red LED will turn off, and a long beep will confirm the new code. The same procedure is followed to change an existing PIN.
To arm the alarm, press the "F" function key followed by the "lock" key. The red LED will flash, and beeps will sound for the duration of the set exit delay. The user must leave the protected area during this time. Once the beeps stop, the alarm is set. To conserve battery power, the unit automatically enters "Conserve" mode after 60 seconds.
To disarm the alarm, press the "F" function key, then enter the 3-digit PIN.
When movement is detected while armed, the red LED flashes. After the set delay time, the alarm will sound unless the "F" function key and the user's PIN are entered. If not disarmed, the alarm will sound for 30 (or 60) seconds and then automatically reset. If further movement is detected during the reset period, the alarm will sound again without delay. During an active alarm, the PIN can be entered digit by digit, checking the LED lights with each press to ensure correct input.
If the alarm has been triggered during the last alarm period, the unit will emit a beep tone instead of a flashing LED during the entry delay. This indicates a prior intrusion. To clear the intrusion memory, the user must enter their PIN.
This function only works in DISARM mode. Press the "F" function key followed by the "bell" key. The "Ding-Dong" chime will play twice, confirming the unit is in visitor chime mode. After a 15-second warm-up period, the unit will sound "Ding-Dong" twice each time it senses movement. The unit should be placed near an entrance to detect visitor entry or exit.
Press the "F" function key followed by the "bell" key. Two beeps will confirm that the visitor chime function is off.
If the key tone becomes dull or is not heard, the batteries should be replaced. Alkaline batteries are recommended for optimal performance.
When batteries are removed and replaced, the PIN will automatically reset to 333. If a previously programmed code still remains, the batteries should be removed, the "F" function key pressed for 3 seconds, and then the batteries replaced.
The unit should be installed in an area to be protected, avoiding direct sunlight or rain exposure. For wall mounting, the supplied screws or double-sided adhesive pads can be used to mount the battery cover first, then the unit slides onto the cover. To remove the battery cover, it must be unlocked as described in the "battery installation" section.
