  Several factors can cause high total dissolved solids in the product water. The sediment/carbon prefilter might be clogged, so replace it. Ensure the feed water pressure is above 40 psi. Inspect the R.O. membrane O-ring and brine seal. If the membrane life is unusually short, find and correct the problem, then replace the membrane. Also, verify that the product water and drain water lines are correctly plumbed.

If there has been heavy water use, allow the holding tank to refill; consider adding a second holding tank to increase storage capacity.

If you've recently installed a new activated carbon post filter, flush it with several full tanks of product water. Be aware that an increase in feed water T.D.S. will result in a corresponding increase in product water T.D.S.

  Tastes and odors in the product water can arise from several causes. The activated carbon post filter may be exhausted, requiring replacement. Foreign matter in the holding tank can also contribute; in this case, clean, flush, and sanitize the system, and replace the filters. Ensure that the product water and waste water lines are not reversed by checking the plumbing. Dissolved gasses in the feed water may also be the cause, pre-treat feed water to remove dissolved gasses.

  If the faucet leaks from the spout, adjust it by turning the tee bar just below the handle to provide a small amount of free play in the handle when shut off. For leaks from the base of the delivery tube, the O-ring is likely bad and needs replacement. If leaks occur from beneath the handle, the O-rings are also likely bad, requiring you to repair or replace the faucet.

  Close the Saddle Valve (feed water) and relieve pressure before disconnecting any tubing or replacing any fitting. Before replacing a fitting, re-cut the tubing and re-insert into the fitting to see if that solves the leak. If pipe threads are leaking, remove and re-tape with teflon tape.

The R.O. membrane might be fouled, so inspect and correct the cause of fouling, then replace the membrane. Adjust the air pre-charge pressure in the holding tank to the 5-7 psi range after emptying the water. If the air bladder in the holding tank is ruptured, replace the tank (if it's an RO-102 tank) or the bladder (if it's an RO mate 4 tank). Make sure the holding tank valve is open.
