Overview

The Martha Stewart MTS-2030PW Electric Pressure Washer is a high-pressure cleaning appliance designed for residential use to clean vehicles, machines, buildings, and facades. It operates with a maximum pressure of 2030 PSI and a current of 14.5 AMP.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Motor: 120 V ~ 60 Hz, 14.5 AMP (1800 W)
  • Max Water Inlet Temperature: 104°F/40°C
  • Max Water Inlet Pressure: 0.7 MPa
  • Max Flow: 1.76 GPM
  • Rated Pressure: 1450 PSI
  • Max Pressure: 2030 PSI
  • Detergent Tank Capacity: 54.1 fl oz (1.6 L)
  • High-Pressure Hose Length: 20 ft (6 m)
  • Power Cord Length: 35 ft (10.7 m)
  • Weight: 27.8 lbs (12.6 kg)
  • Sound Power Level: 96 dB(A)
  • Operating Temperature: 32°F (0°C) to 104°F (40°C)

Usage Features:

The pressure washer is equipped with a pump encased in a shock-absorbing housing, a spray wand, and a non-slip handle grip for optimal working position. It is designed to be used with cold or lukewarm water. Using hot water or dirty/gritty water can damage the pump and impair operation.

Safety Features:

  • Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI): Built into the power cord plug, this device provides additional protection against electric shock. If replacement is needed, only identical parts with GFCI protection should be used.
  • Thermal Sensor: Protects the motor from overloading. The machine will restart after a few minutes once the sensor cools down.
  • Double Insulation: Provides two systems of insulation instead of grounding, requiring extreme care and knowledge for servicing by qualified personnel using identical replacement parts.
  • Unloader Valve: Reduces pressure if it exceeds preset values.
  • Spray Gun Lock: Prevents accidental operation of the spray gun when activated.
  • Polarized Plug: Designed to fit into a polarized outlet only one way to reduce the risk of electric shock.

Nozzle System:

The pressure washer comes with five (5) Quick-Connect nozzles that easily snap onto the spray wand's collar, offering different spray patterns for various cleaning tasks:

  • 0° Intense-Jet Nozzle (Orange): Delivers a high-pressure, pencil-point jet stream for heavy dirt deposits, stubborn substances (tar, grease on concrete), and caked mud. Ideal for hard-to-reach areas.
  • 15° Fan-Tip Nozzle (Yellow): For intense cleaning jobs on hard surfaces, such as stripping paint, removing oil/grease/mildew stains, and rust from steel.
  • 25° Fan-Tip Nozzle (Green): For cleaning home siding, brick patios, wood decks, driveways, or sidewalks.
  • 40° Wide-Spray Tip Nozzle (Gray): For cleaning cars, trucks, boats, patio furniture, or lawn equipment.
  • Soap Nozzle (Black): For low-pressure detergent application to clean equipment, remove mildew/oxidation stains, and degrease surfaces. This is the only nozzle that works for detergent application.

Detergent Application:

The unit features a detergent tank. To use detergent, the soap nozzle (black) must be installed. The detergent dial allows adjustment of the suction volume of the detergent solution. Only detergents specifically designed for pressure washers should be used; household detergents, acids, bases, solvents, flammable materials, or industrial-grade solutions can damage the machine. Detergent should be applied from bottom to top on a dry surface and not allowed to dry on the surface. After use, the detergent tank must be drained and rinsed.

Operation:

  1. Connect the garden hose adapter to the water inlet of the pressure washer, then thread the garden hose (male end) into the adapter. The garden hose must have an internal diameter of at least 13 mm (1/2 in.) and be reinforced.
  2. Attach the garden hose to the water supply. The machine is not suitable for connection to potable water mains.
  3. Ensure the ON/OFF switch (pressure select dial) is in the STOP (0) position before plugging the unit into a power outlet.
  4. Check that the electrical supply voltage and frequency match the pressure washer rating plate.
  5. Plug in the pressure washer; the GFCI may need to be reset until its power light indicator illuminates.
  6. Turn the water supply tap on completely.
  7. Ensure the safety lock on the trigger handle is down and in its original position, then press the trigger for a few seconds until water flow is steady to allow air to escape and discharge residual pressure.
  8. Turn the ON/OFF switch (pressure select dial) to the LOW (I) or HIGH (II) position to start the pressure washer.
  9. To change nozzles, turn off the pressure washer, shut off the water supply, pull the trigger to release pressure, and engage the safety lock on the trigger handle before removing or snapping on a new nozzle.

Shutting Down:

  1. Turn the switch to the STOP (0) position and unplug the power cord.
  2. Turn off the water source.
  3. Hold the trigger to release water pressure.
  4. Disconnect the garden hose from the water inlet.
  5. Disconnect the high-pressure hose from the trigger gun handle.
  6. Release the trigger and engage the gun safety lock.

Maintenance Features:

  • Water Inlet Filter Cleaning: To ensure good performance, the water inlet filter should be checked and cleaned regularly. Remove the pre-filter and water inlet filter and rinse with warm water to prevent clogging.
  • Nozzle Cleaning: Use the provided needle clean-out tool to remove any dirt from the nozzle hole. Back flush water through the nozzle and spray wand by placing the garden hose to the tip of the nozzle.

Storage (Winterizing + Long-Term Storage):

  • Always store the pressure washer indoors in a dry, covered area where the temperature will not fall below 32°F (0°C), as freezing can cause permanent damage to the pump (not covered by warranty).
  • Disconnect all water connections.
  • Turn on the machine for a few seconds until remaining water exits the pump, then turn off immediately.
  • Do not kink the high-pressure hose.
  • Empty water from all hoses, the pump, and detergent bottle(s).
  • Operate the pressure washer with non-corrosive/non-toxic anti-freeze, a pump saver, or a pump protector before storing for winter.
  • Before reusing, completely flush the unit with clear water to ensure no anti-freeze remains, as it can damage paintwork.

Safety Warnings:

  • Always read the instruction manual before use.
  • Keep children and bystanders away from the work area.
  • Wear safety glasses, footwear, snug-fitting clothing, protective gloves, hearing, and head protection.
  • Do not direct the high-pressure jet at persons, pets, live electrical equipment, or the appliance itself.
  • Do not spray flammable liquids, acids, bases, solvents, or any flammable material.
  • Do not carry the machine by the cord or yank the cord to disconnect it.
  • Inspect electrical cords for damage; do not use if damaged.
  • Do not touch the plug with wet hands.
  • Do not expose the unit to rain or wet conditions.
  • Disconnect the tool from the electrical power supply before performing any maintenance.
  • Do not use extension cords over 25 ft; combined cord length must not exceed 60 ft, and any extension cord must be 14-gauge or heavier.
  • The machine is not suitable for connection to potable water mains.
  • The intake water temperature must not exceed 104°F/40°C, and water supply must not exceed 0.7 MPa.
  • Use only clean water to avoid damage from corrosive chemicals.
