Thank you for selecting the Martin Yale Model 1601 Autofolder. We recommend that you familiar-
ize yourself with the Model 1601 Autofolder by carefully reading these instructions. Thorough
understanding of the information contained within this instruction manual will help to eliminate most
operator-associated errors and ensure years of trouble-free performance.
WARNING! Never connect power to the machine until you are ready to set up and operate
the folder. During set up, operation, and maintenance keep hands, hair, loose clothing, and
jewelry away from all moving parts. Serious bodily injury could result. Service or disas-
sembly of the folder should only be attempted with the power disconnected and locked out.

The feed table paper guide skew adjustment may be off; align the paper guides with the skew adjustment so the paper feeds straight into the folder. Alternatively, the feed table paper guides may be too tight; set the guides so that sheets slide freely down between them without excessive side play. Dirty rollers can also cause wrinkling; clean the rollers.

      If paper isn't feeding into your Martin Yale paper folder, several factors could be at play. Check if the paper guides are too tight and adjust them so the paper slides freely. Ensure the paper stack is square with respect to the folding rollers. A contaminated feed wheel can also cause issues, so clean it. Static electricity buildup may be the culprit; use Martin Yale Static Eliminator Spray liberally over paper edges, feed tables, fold tables, and the exit ramp. If the retarder roller has a flat wear area, replace it. Lastly, if the paper has a curl, try stacking it with a heavy object on top for a couple of hours or place the paper on the feed table with the curl down.
