INTRODUCTION
Thank you for selecting the Martin Yale Model 1632 Letter Opener. This letter opener was
designed for easy installation, set-up, and operation with minimal maintenance required. We rec-
ommend that you familiarize yourself with the Martin Yale 1632 Letter Opener by carefully read-
ing this manual. Thorough understanding of this information will eliminate most operator-asso-
ciated errors.
WARNING! Never connect power to the machine until you are ready to set up and operate
the letter opener. During set up, operation, and maintenance keep hands, hair, loose cloth-
ing, and jewelry away from all moving parts. Serious bodily injury could result. Service,
or disassembly of letter opener should only be attempted with the power disconnected and
locked out.

Turn ON the opener, envelopes feed and open. Turn OFF when done. Do not run without envelopes.

Maintenance

Conveyor Belt Cleaning

Clean feed belts with cleaner to remove ink, toner, lint. Replace if they no longer feed.

Scrap Removal

Clear scrap paper, especially near blades. Remove deck if needed. Clean surfaces with water/cleanser.

Troubleshooting

Jamming in Blade

Disconnect power, remove cover, clear paper from blades carefully, replace cover, run machine.

Envelopes Fail to Feed

Check belts, envelope width/thickness, or call service if belts are worn.

Feeding Multiple Envelopes

Check holdback spring for weakness or looseness; adjust for more pressure if needed.

Machine Does Not Run

Verify power connection, check for tripped breaker, or contact service for electrical/belt issues.
