CHECKING
AND ADJUSTING
TOE.IN
Before
adjusting toe-in,
be
sure tie rbds
are of equal
length.
Variations in
right and
left
turns can be caused by
different
length of tie
rods.
Adjust toe-in so
the distance between front
of wheels measure 1/8" less
than at the back
by
turning equal amounts on
each
tie rod.
The
hydraulic
system consists
of a
control
valve,
cylinder
and
lines.
The oil
is
supplied
by
the transmission
charging
pump.
The
transmis-
sion
and
rear axle
assembly
is
the reservoir.
The
operating
pressure
is
550-700
psi
and
can be checked
as follows:
1.
Remove
covers over
drive
shaft.
2.
Remove
plug
at top of transmission
pump
housing.
3. lnstall
a 1000
psi gauge
as
shown in Fig.
77.
4.
Start
engine
and
lift
up
on
control valve
lever.
5.
lf gauge
does
not
read 550-700
psi,
add
shims
to relief
valve
on
left side
of
pump
hous-
ing to increase
the
pressure.
Remove
shims to
lower
pressure.
CONTROL
VALVE
To
remove
and
install
refer to Fig. 78 and
proceed
as
follows:
1.
Remove
panel
below
instrument
panel.
2.
Disconnect
oil
lines.
3.
Remove
bolts
securing
valve and re-
move.
4.
Reinstall
and connect lines.
NOTE:
The valve is not serviceable. Install
a
new
valve if
necessary.
HYDRAULIC
CYLINDER
To service
the hydraulic cylinder
proceed
as
follows:
1.
Remove
cylinder from the
tractor.
2.
Remove
fitting from head
end of
cylinder
bump
plug
and seal
from
barrel.
