Remove
fitting from
end of
piston
rod
as
shown
in
Fig. 79.

Push
piston
and
rod out
of
cylinder
bar-
rel.

5. lnstall
new seals, lubricate
with
petro-
leum
jelly
and carefully insert
rod and
piston
into
barrel
bore.
6. Push
plug
and seal into
end of
barrel,
as
shown
in
Fig. 81.
NOTE:
The
use ol
shim
stock will
aid
in
protection
of
seals when
the
piston
and
plug
is installed.
7. Align
hole in
plug
with hole in
barrel and
install
fitting
as
shown in
Fig.
82.
8.
lnstall
cylinder
on tractor.

lnspect
all
parts
for wear
or
damage.
Replace
as required.
9. Refer
to
Fig.
84 and
reassemble
parts
following the
disassembly
procedures
in
reverse,
making sure
the
shield side
of
each bearing is
facing
outward.

the
unit
properly
assembled.
10. lnstall
spindle
on
top of
mower deck,
down through
opening
and secure
with
retaining
bolts, as shown
in
Fig.

The
Mower has
3 spindles
and blades driven
with
a
"V"
belt by an
electrically controlled clutch
on
the
engine.
SPINDLE
SERVICING
The
spindles
are the same
except
the cen-
ter
one which
has a longer
shaft and an
extra
pulley.
To
disassemble
and reassemble
proceed
as
follows:
1.
Remove
mower from tractor.
2.
Remove belt shields
and remove drive
belt.
See Fig.
83.
3. Turn
mower over
and remove blade.
CAUTION: Wrap
a cloth around
the blade
to
prevent
injury.
4.
Remove
bolts securing
spindle
assembly
to
mower
and
remove spindle.
5. Remove
nut
at
end of
shaft
and remove
pulley
and
key.
6. Bump
shaft
out of bearings
and hub.
7.
Use a suitable
punch
and
drive
bearings
out
of hub.
