Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the Master Chef 12-Cup Coffee Maker, model no. 043-1002-8. It provides comprehensive information on the appliance's function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Master Chef 12-Cup Coffee Maker is designed to brew coffee for household use. It features a water tank, a funnel for ground coffee and a paper filter, an anti-drip valve, a carafe, a main housing, a warming plate, and an ON/OFF switch. The appliance is capable of brewing up to 12 cups of coffee, with a maximum capacity of 1.8 L. It is equipped with an automatic stop function when the carafe is removed during brewing, allowing users to pour and serve coffee at any time. The coffee maker also includes a warming plate to keep coffee hot after brewing, ensuring it remains at an optimal temperature until served.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model No.: 043-1002-8
  • Capacity: 12 cups (1.8 L maximum)
  • Power Supply: The appliance is incorporated with a grounded plug, requiring a well-grounded power outlet.
  • Cord Type: It uses a short power-supply cord to reduce risks of entanglement or tripping. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords can be used, provided they meet specific electrical rating and arrangement requirements, including being a grounding-type 3-wire cord if the appliance is grounded.

Usage Features

The coffee maker is designed for straightforward operation.

Before First Use: Before initial use, all accessories should be checked for completeness and damage. The water tank should be filled to the MAX level, and water should be brewed several times without ground coffee to clean the system. All detachable parts should be thoroughly cleaned with water.

Brewing Coffee:

  1. Filling Water: Open the top cover and fill the water tank with fresh water, ensuring the level does not exceed the MAX mark on the water level gauge.
  2. Adding Coffee: Place the funnel into its support, ensuring correct positioning. Insert a paper filter into the funnel and add ground coffee. The manual suggests one level spoon of ground coffee per cup, but this can be adjusted for desired brew strength. Close the top cover completely.
  3. Carafe Placement: Insert the carafe onto the warming plate.
  4. Power On: Plug the power cord into a grounded outlet. Press the ON/OFF switch to the "I" position; the indicator will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
  5. Interrupting Brewing: Brewing can be paused at any time by pressing the ON/OFF switch to the "O" position. Brewing will resume when the switch is returned to the "I" position. The anti-drip valve allows the carafe to be removed for pouring during brewing, but it should be returned to the warming plate within 30 seconds to prevent overflow.
  6. Serving: Once brewing is complete, remove the carafe to serve. The manual notes that the final coffee volume will be slightly less than the water added due to absorption by the ground coffee.
  7. Keeping Warm: If immediate serving is not desired, the coffee maker can be left on to keep the coffee warm on the warming plate until unplugged. For optimal taste, it is recommended to serve coffee immediately after brewing.
  8. Power Off: Always turn the coffee maker off and disconnect the power supply when not in use.

Safety Precautions during Use:

  • Avoid touching hot surfaces, especially the cover and warming plate, during and after brewing, as they can cause burns. Use handles or knobs only.
  • Do not remove the cover during brewing cycles to prevent scalding.
  • Never operate the coffee maker without water.
  • Do not leave an empty carafe on the warming plate, as it may crack.
  • Do not place a hot carafe on a hot or cold surface.
  • Use caution when pouring hot coffee.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the efficient operation and longevity of the coffee maker.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  1. Detachable Parts: All detachable parts should be cleaned in hot water with soap after each use.
  2. Exterior Surface: Wipe the exterior surface with a soft, damp cloth to remove stains.
  3. Drip Control: Water droplets may accumulate above the funnel. This area should be wiped with a clean, dry cloth after each use to control dripping.
  4. Warming Plate: Gently wipe the warming plate with a damp cloth. Abrasive cleaners should never be used on the warming plate.
  5. Storage: Replace all parts and store the appliance for future use.
  6. Carafe Care: Do not clean the carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive materials. The carafe is fragile and designed specifically for this appliance; it should not be used on a range top.

Removing Mineral Deposits (Descaling): To maintain efficiency, mineral deposits from water should be regularly cleaned.

  1. Prepare Descaling Solution: Fill the water tank to the MAX level with a mixture of water and a household descaler (4 parts water to 1 part descaler). Citric acid can also be used. Refer to the descaler's instructions.
  2. Remove Coffee: Ensure the filter is free of any coffee.
  3. Start Brewing: Press the ON/OFF switch to the "I" position; the indicator will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
  4. Partial Brew: Brew about two cups of coffee.
  5. Soak: Press the ON/OFF switch to the "O" position to stop the unit immediately. Allow the descaler to soak in the unit for at least 15 minutes.
  6. Repeat: Restart the unit and repeat steps 3-5 at least three times.
  7. Rinse: To rinse the machine, brew with tap water at least three times.

General Safety and Care:

  • Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  • Do not immerse the cord, plug, or appliance in water or other liquids to protect against electrical shock.
  • Allow the appliance to cool down completely before attaching or removing components, or before cleaning.
  • Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or if it malfunctions or is damaged. Return it to an authorized service facility for repair.
  • Do not use accessory attachments not recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of tables or counters or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place the coffee maker on a hot surface or beside fire.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person.

The product carries a one (1) year limited warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. Trileaf Distribution agrees to replace defective products free of charge within the stated warranty period, provided the original purchaser presents proof of purchase.
