Overview

The Matador Radiant Revolve is a charcoal rotisserie BBQ designed for outdoor grilling and rotisserie cooking. It features a robust construction and several adjustable components to enhance the cooking experience.

Function Description:

The Matador Radiant Revolve serves as a versatile outdoor cooking appliance, primarily for charcoal grilling and rotisserie cooking. It allows users to cook various types of meat and food items over an open charcoal flame, with the added benefit of a motorized rotisserie for even cooking. The BBQ is designed for ease of use, temperature regulation, and convenient storage.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions: The BBQ has a length of 932 mm, a width of 416 mm, and a height of 693 mm.
  • Motor: It is equipped with a 20KG motor, indicating its capacity to handle substantial weight for rotisserie cooking.
  • Materials: Key components include a charcoal grate, chrome-plated cooking grate, enamel firebowl, and metal fixing screws. The spit rod assembly includes cast forks, a spit rod extension, a spit rod bolt, and a rotisserie handle with a counterweight.
  • Hardware: The assembly requires various bolts (M5 x 12, M6 x 12), washers (Ø5/12, Ø6/12), and hex nuts (M5, M6).

Usage Features:

  • Grilling: For grilling, a single layer of evenly placed coals is recommended on the charcoal grate. The charcoal grate's height is adjustable, allowing users to move the heat source closer or further from the cooking grate to regulate temperature. There are four height positions for the charcoal grate, ensuring even heat distribution.
  • Rotisserie Cooking:
    • Fuel: Users should cover the charcoal grate with charcoal fuel (hardwood or briquettes). A general rule of thumb is 1kg of charcoal per kg of meat.
    • Lighting: A full chimney starter of fuel should be lit until glowing with a grey ash covering, then spread evenly over the charcoal on the grate.
    • Flame Management: For optimal results, the flame should surround the meat rather than being directly underneath, to prevent fat drips from causing flare-ups and burning.
    • Rotisserie Supports: The rotisserie supports can be assembled at three different height positions, providing clearance for food and allowing adjustment of the food's distance from the fuel source.
    • Counterweight: A counterweight is included to balance the load on the spit rod, especially for uneven cuts of meat. This ensures smooth rotation and reduces strain on the motor.
  • Temperature Regulation: The adjustable height of the charcoal grate is the primary method for regulating cooking temperature by controlling the distance between the heat source and the food.
  • Adding Fuel: To add fuel during cooking, the cooking grate must be safely lifted using the provided grate lifter. BBQ gloves are strongly recommended, and direct contact with the hot grate should be avoided. Long charcoal tongs are used to add charcoal, taking care not to stir up ashes or sparks.
  • Windbreak: The BBQ's lid doubles as a windbreak. It can be hooked into two slots on the rear of the firebowl to shield the cook or provide protection in windy conditions.
  • Storage: The BBQ is designed for convenient storage. Components such as the cooking grate, rotisserie rod assembly, and charcoal tray can be removed and stored inside the firebowl, which is then secured with the lid. A storage bag is provided for protection.

Maintenance Features:

  • Curing: The BBQ should be cured periodically throughout the year to protect against excessive rust.
  • Protection: To prevent rust, the unit must be properly cured and covered when not in use.
  • Cleaning:
    • Cooking grate and charcoal grate should be washed with hot, soapy water, rinsed well, and dried.
    • The inside and outside of the BBQ should be cleaned by wiping with a damp cloth.
    • A light coat of vegetable oil or spray should be applied to the interior surface to prevent rusting, but not to the charcoal or cooking grates.
    • If rust appears on the exterior, it can be cleaned and buffed with steel wool or fine-grit emery cloth, then touched up with high-temperature resistant paint.
    • Rust spots on the interior can be buffed, cleaned, and lightly coated with vegetable oil or spray to minimize rusting.
    • Abrasive scourers or brushes should not be used on the cooking grate to avoid damaging the chrome-plated surface.
  • After-Use Safety:
    • Allow all components to cool completely before handling.
    • Never leave hot coals and ashes unattended. Ensure coals and ashes are completely extinguished before removing.
    • Before storage, remaining coals and ashes must be removed and placed in a non-combustible metal container, saturated with water, and allowed to remain for 24 hours before disposal.
    • Completely wet the surface beneath and around the BBQ with a garden hose to extinguish any fallen ashes, coals, or embers.
    • Store the BBQ in its provided storage bag in a protected area away from children.

Important Safety Information:

  • Outdoor Use Only: The BBQ must only be used outdoors in an open-air situation with natural ventilation.
  • Placement: Use on a hard, level, non-combustible, stable surface (concrete, ground, etc.). Maintain a clearance of at least 1m from combustible materials (bushes, trees, wooden fences, buildings).
  • Supervision: Keep children and pets away from the BBQ when in use. Close supervision is necessary.
  • Fuel: Only use approved charcoal lighter fluid if chosen, and never add it to hot or warm coals. Do not use petrol, kerosene, or alcohol. Use high-grade charcoal briquettes or lump wood.
  • Burns: The BBQ becomes hot during use. Do not attempt to move it, wear protective BBQ gloves, avoid touching hot surfaces, keep children away, and do not wear loose clothing or allow hair to come into contact with the BBQ.
  • Fire Extinguisher: It is advised to have a fire extinguisher on hand.
  • Assembly: Estimated assembly time is 30-45 minutes. Use caution during assembly to avoid scrapes or cuts from sharp metal edges.
  • Warranty: The Matador BBQ comes with a warranty covering burn-through and rust-through of the firebowl and lid for 10 years. Plastic parts are warranted for 5 years, and other parts (excluding electrical components) for 2 years. Electrical components are warranted for 12 months. The warranty excludes surface rust, damage from abuse or neglect, fading, and discolouration.
