Overview

This document describes the MaximalPower™ FC999 Universal Rapid Charger, designed for various battery types including AA, AAA, C, D, and 9V batteries.

Function Description:

The FC999 is a versatile battery charger capable of charging four kinds of batteries: Ni-Cd (Nickel Cadmium), Ni-MH (Nickel Metal Hydride), RAM (Rechargeable Alkaline Manganese), and standard Alkaline batteries. It features intelligent microprocessor control and a negative delta V cut-off function for efficient and safe charging. The charger is designed to handle 1-4 pieces of AAA, AA, C, D batteries and 1 piece of 9V battery simultaneously. Each charging bay functions independently, allowing for individual monitoring of the charging cycle for single or grouped batteries.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Battery Compatibility: AA, AAA, C, D, 9V (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, RAM, Alkaline).
  • Charging Capacity: 1-4 pcs for AA/AAA/C/D, 1 pc for 9V.
  • Charging Technology: Negative Delta V cut-off for Ni-Cd & Ni-MH, followed by quick charge and constant current trickle charge.
  • Safety Features: Short-circuit protection, heat sensor, reversed-polarity protection, individual maximum timer control for overcharge protection.
  • Display: LED indicators and an LCD display show the status of each battery's charging cycle.
  • Power: DC socket for power input.
  • Operating Temperature: 0-40°C.

Charging Times (Approximate):

The charging time can be estimated using the formula: Capacity of the battery x 1.4 = charge time.

  • Ni-Cd:
    • AAA (400mAh): 0.7 Hours
    • AA (800mAh): 1.4 Hours
    • C (2200mAh): 3.9 Hours
    • D (4400mAh): 7.7 Hours
  • Ni-MH:
    • AAA (800mAh): 1.4 Hours
    • AA (2300mAh): 4 Hours
    • C (3300mAh): 5-8 Hours
    • D (5000mAh): 8 Hours
  • Alkaline:
    • AAA (1.5V): <1.4V 2.5 Hours
    • AA (1.5V): <1.4V 5 Hours
    • C (1.5V): <1.4V 6 Hours
    • D (1.5V): <1.4V 10 Hours
  • 9V block (200mAh): 7 Hours

Usage Features:

  • Easy to Use: Simple operation with clear indicators.
  • Battery Selection Switch: Allows users to select the battery type (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, or ALK) via a sliding switch on the front panel.
  • Automatic Battery Detection: The charger automatically detects battery status after approximately 2 seconds.
  • Ni-Cd Discharge Function: For Ni-Cd batteries, the charger first discharges the battery (LCD shows "DIS", energy indicator flashes downward, LED is yellow) to improve battery condition and reduce memory effect, then proceeds to quick charge.
  • Charging Indication:
    • Charging: LCD shows "CHA", energy level indicator flashes upward, LED is red.
    • Fully Charged: LCD shows "OK", energy level indicator shows full, LED turns green.
    • 9V Battery Charging: Top LED lights red during charging, turns green when fully charged.
  • Alkaline Battery Charging: The charger can recharge most standard alkaline batteries to 75-90% of their original capacity, up to 30+ times, depending on quality and condition. It is crucial to ensure no dirt, rust, or leakage on the battery and that it hasn't passed its expiration date. Recharged alkaline batteries should be used within 3 days to prevent leakage.
  • Trickle Charge: After a battery is fully charged, the charger automatically switches to trickle charge to maintain optimum capacity, except for alkaline batteries which should be removed.
  • Error Indication: If battery voltage is very low or the battery cannot be recharged, the LCD shows "BAD" and the LED is off.
  • Environmental Benefits: Encourages the use of rechargeable batteries to reduce waste.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Always unplug the charger before cleaning.
  • Storage: Protect the charger against humidity and heat.
  • Handling Recharged Batteries: Handle re-charged batteries with care.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Do not use outdoors; designed for indoor use only.
    • Do not use an extension cord.
    • Observe correct polarity when inserting batteries.
    • Do not short-circuit charging contacts or batteries.
    • Do not use damaged or corroded batteries.
    • Do not leave the charger in moist or wet conditions.
    • Keep the device and batteries out of reach of children.
    • Do not open or modify the unit; unauthorized opening voids warranty and can cause hazards. Repairs should only be carried out by authorized service personnel.
    • If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or qualified person to avoid danger.

Warranty Information:

The product comes with an unconditional 30-day home trial period for exchange if not completely satisfied.
