How to fix a Maytag YMEDC555DW that will not start?
    • A
      Alisha HickmanAug 18, 2025
If your Maytag Dryer isn't running, first ensure the door is completely closed. Then, firmly press and hold the PUSH to START knob until you hear the drum moving. Also, check your household fuses or circuit breakers, as electric dryers use two. Replace both fuses or reset the breaker. Electric dryers need a 240-volt power supply, so verify that with an electrician. Finally, ensure you're using a time-delay fuse.

Why are my clothes not drying in my Maytag YMEDC555DW Dryer?

      Erica LyonsAug 20, 2025
If your clothes aren't drying well or drying times are too long in your Maytag Dryer, start by cleaning the lint screen before each load. Check the exhaust vent and outside exhaust hood for clogs; if there's no air movement when the dryer is running, clean the exhaust system or replace the vent with a heavy metal or flexible metal one. Ensure the exhaust vent isn't too long or has too many turns. Use a 4" (102 mm) diameter vent material. Avoid using the Air Fluff cycle for regular drying; select the correct cycle for your garments. Also, separate large or heavy loads to allow them to tumble freely.

Why is my Maytag YMEDC555DW not heating up?
    • J
      Jackson BradleyAug 23, 2025
If your Maytag dryer isn't heating, the drum may be turning, but you may not have heat. First, check your household fuses or circuit breakers. Electric dryers use two fuses or circuit breakers, so replace both fuses or reset the circuit breaker. If the problem continues, call an electrician. Electric dryers require a 240-volt power supply, so check with a qualified electrician. For gas dryers, ensure the valve on the gas supply line is open.

What to do if my Maytag Dryer is making a rattling noise?
    • K
      Kimberly BrownAug 26, 2025
If your Maytag Dryer is making a rattling or vibrating noise, check the front and rear edges of the drum for small objects and clean out pockets before laundering. Ensure the dryer is properly leveled, with all four feet in firm contact with the floor. If clothing is balled up, separate the items and restart the dryer.

    • C
      connor32Aug 28, 2025
If your Maytag Dryer is making a thumping noise, this is normal if the dryer hasn’t been used in a while. The thumping sound should diminish after a few minutes of use.

How to prevent wrinkles in Maytag YMEDC555DW?
    • K
      Kendra OneillAug 30, 2025
To prevent wrinkles in your Maytag Dryer, use a cycle with Wrinkle Control to tumble the load without heat. Also, avoid tightly packing the dryer; dry smaller loads that can tumble freely to reduce wrinkle formation.

Why is there lint on my clothes after drying in my Maytag YMEDC555DW Dryer?
    • J
      Jessica BarnesSep 2, 2025
If you're finding lint on your clothes after drying in your Maytag Dryer, the lint screen may be clogged. Clean the lint screen before each load.

Why is my laundry too hot after using my Maytag Dryer?
    • K
      Kevin AdamsSep 4, 2025
If laundry items were removed from the dryer before the end of the cycle, allow the Cool Down cycle to finish before removing laundry from the dryer. If a high-temperature cycle was used or the Temperature/Fabric control was set to high, select a lower temperature and use an automatic drying cycle. These cycles sense the temperature or the moisture level in the load and shut off when the load reaches the selected dryness. This reduces overdrying.

    James BishopSep 7, 2025
Why is the cycle time too short on my Maytag YMEDC555DW?
    • C
      Christopher DuffySep 7, 2025
If the automatic cycle is ending early on your Maytag Dryer, the load may not be contacting the sensor strips, so level the dryer. For very small loads, use Timed Dry. You can also change the Dry Level setting on Sensor Dry/Automatic Dry cycles to adjust drying time.

Why are there stains on my clothes after using my Maytag YMEDC555DW Dryer?
    • P
      Paula PerezSep 9, 2025
If there are stains on your clothes after using your Maytag Dryer, it may be due to improper use of fabric softener. Add dryer fabric softener sheets at the beginning of the cycle, as adding them to a partially dried load can stain garments.
