NOTE
Cruise control cannot reduce the
vehicle speed if it increases above
the
set speed on a downhill grade. If
your vehicle speed is faster than the
set speed while driving downhill,
you may want to shift to the next
lower gear to reduce vehicle speed.
In mountainous areas, at higher eleva-
tions,
or when pulling a trailer
, the cruise
control may not be able to maintain the
preset speed with the transmission in
overdrive.
If your vehicle comes with a 5-speed
manual transmission, you may prefer to
drive
in 4 (Fourth) gear
, in mountainous
areas or at high altitudes, to improve
cruise control performance.
To
maintain a preset speed with an
auto
-
matic transmission, under these condi-
tions, push the Overdrive Off button on
the end of the gearshift lever. The O/D
OFF light will illuminate on the instru-
ment
cluster
. Y
ou can select this position
at any speed. For the best fuel economy
during normal driving conditions, leave
the shift selector in Overdrive.
In order to downshift (with a manual
transmission) with the cruise control
operating,

the cruise control. Wait a second before
depressing the clutch again and making
the shift so that the cruise control can
fully return to the idle position.
