Check the windshield wiper blades at
least
twice a year
. Also check them when
-
ever
they seem less
ef
fective than usual.
Contamination of either the windshield
or the blades with foreign matter can
reduce wiper effectiveness. Common
sources
are insects, tree sap, and hot wax
treatments
used by some commercial car
washes.
If the blades are not wiping properly,
clean
the window and blades
with a good
cleaner
or mild deter
gent; then rinse thor
-
oughly
with
clean water
. Repeat if neces
-
sary.
To
make reaching the
wiper blades easy
,
simply turn the ignition switch to ACC
and
turn your wipers on. W
ait for them to
reach
a vertical position and turn the
igni
-
tion
OFF
. Do not move the wipers manu
-
ally. Moving the wipers manually may
damage them.
CAUTION
To prevent damage to the wiper
blades,
don’
t use gasoline, kerosene,
paint
thinner
,
or other solvents on or
near them.

Blade Assemblies
When
the wipers no longer
clean well, the
blades are probably worn or cracked.
Replace the wiper blade assemblies.
CAUTION
To
prevent damage to the wiper arms,
and other components, don’t move
the wipers by hand.
