Front Passenger Air Bag
The front passenger air bag is mounted
in the front passenger instrument
panel.
The inflation mechanism for the front
passenger air bag is the same as the
driver's air bag.

Deployment Criteria" (page 2-62).

Driver Knee Air Bag
The knee air bag is equipped under the
instrument panel.
If the air bag crash sensors receive a
frontal impact of greater than
moderate force, the knee air bag
deploys immediately to reduce impact
to the driver's legs.

Side Air Bags
There are 3 types of side air bags
including the side air bags for the
driver and front passenger (inboard/
outboard) and rear passengers
(outboard).
Front seat side air bags
The front seat side air bags are installed
in the inboard side of the driver’s
seatback and in the outboard sides of
the driver and front passenger ’s
seatbacks.
When the air bag crash sensors detect
a side impact greater than moderate
force, the system
inflates
the inboard
side air bag and the side air bag on the
outboard side where the vehicle was
hit. The side air bags
inflate
instantaneously to reduce injury to the
driver or front passenger’s head and
chest caused by directly hitting interior
parts such as a door, window or an
occupant.
