Do you have a question about the MCE TORQMAX F5 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The document describes the TORQMAX F5 ELEVATOR DRIVE, a frequency inverter designed for smooth speed regulation of three-phase motors in elevator applications. It is manufactured by MCE and KEB America.

Function Description

The TORQMAX F5 series inverter is a high-quality, dynamic performance frequency inverter. It is exclusively designed for smooth speed regulation of a three-phase motor in elevator applications. The inverter provides various control modes, including open-loop V/Hz, open-loop vector, closed-loop FOC (Field-Oriented Control), closed-loop analog pretorque, closed-loop digital pretorque, and closed-loop synthetic pretorque. These modes allow for precise control of motor speed and torque, with features like internal pretorque to minimize rollback at brake pick-up without external load weighing devices.

The drive supports various speed selection methods, including digital speed selection (up to five speeds), binary speed selection (up to seven speeds), absolute analog speed, bi-polar analog speed, and serial speed control via DIN66019 protocols (Service 49 and 50) and CiA417 (CAN Open Lift functionality). Direction control can be managed by digital inputs or polarity of analog signals, with specific logic for handling simultaneous direction signals.

The inverter includes encoder feedback interfaces (X3A and X3B) for precise motor position and speed feedback, supporting incremental TTL, EnDat, Sin/Cos, SSi, Hiperface, UVW, and Resolver encoder types. It also offers encoder scaling and rotor detection modes for PM synchronous motors, including Stationary Pole Identification (SPI) and Encoder Pole Learn.

Safety features include Safe Torque Off (STO) functionality in accordance with IEC 61800-5-2, performance levels (ISO13849-1), and SIL 3 (IEC 61508 and IEC62061). It also has a brake transistor monitor circuit to detect brake transistor failure and signal the elevator controller for a safe shutdown.

Important Technical Specifications
