Overview

This document describes the Mediclinics 'Dualflow Plus' hand dryer, available in White (M14A-UL), Satin (M14ACS-UL), and Black (M14AB-UL) finishes. It is designed for automatic operation with IR-type movement sensors.

Function Description

The 'Dualflow Plus' hand dryer is an automatic hand dryer that uses infrared sensors to detect hands, initiating the drying cycle. It is designed to provide an optimal balance between drying power and noise level. The device incorporates a powerful air curtain to remove water from hands and a Ni-Cr thermally protected heating element for efficient drying. The drying process is based on a continuous air curtain that effectively dries hands.

The hand dryer features an internal water tank that collects water removed from hands. This tank has a maximum capacity, and an acoustic alarm sounds, and a blue pilot light illuminates when the tank is full, indicating it needs to be emptied.

The device includes light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that provide information on its status:

  • A green LED indicates 'standby' mode or operation (orange).
  • A red LED illuminates when the motor has a problem (due to worn brushes or a blocked/locked motor).
  • A blue LED illuminates when the water tank is full, indicating it needs to be emptied.

Usage Features

The hand dryer is designed for easy and intuitive use. To operate, hands must be introduced inside the appliance, and the drying cycle starts automatically. Hands should be moved vertically (as shown in Figure 1 in the manual) to ensure complete drying. Once hands are removed, the dryer automatically turns off.

Important Safety Note: This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance of the 'Dualflow Plus' hand dryer involves several key aspects to ensure its longevity and proper functioning. Only a qualified technician should perform installation, adjustment, and maintenance.

Installation:

  1. The hand dryer must be installed on a wall using the upper metal plate (support) provided.
  2. The installer must ensure that the electrical installation is grounded in accordance with current regulations.
  3. The machine must be disconnected from the main power supply before any maintenance operation.
  4. Drill five 8 mm (0.31") diameter holes in the wall using the provided template (1).
  5. Clean any residual dust from the holes.
  6. Insert nylon plugs (provided) into the five holes (Fig. 2-3).
  7. Place the bracket to fix the hand dryer on the wall (Fig. 4).
  8. Firmly fix the bracket to the wall (Fig. 5-6).
  9. Pass the electrical cables from the mains through the 22 mm (0.87") diameter hole located in the rear plastic base plate (5).
  10. Connect the electrical wires to the hand dryer terminal block. Two phases (N, L) and earth wires must be screwed in the right ways of the terminal block, as indicated by the engraved letters (6).
  11. After this operation has been done, plastic covers must be placed correctly (10).
  12. Remove the air inlet filter casing (7).
  13. Firmly place the lower screws for fixing the appliance completely (8).
  14. Put the inlet air casing to its location.
  15. The installation height should be as shown in Figure 3 of the manual, with specific measurements for different user groups (e.g., 92 cm for adults, 87 cm for disabled users, 57 cm for children).

Adjusting the Speed of the Motor: The motor speed can be adjusted by turning the sensor potentiometer wheel, as shown in Figure 4 of the manual. This allows for customization of the drying experience.

Disconnecting the Heating Element: The heating element can be disconnected by switching the switch to the OFF position, as shown in Figure 4. This feature allows for energy saving or operation in warmer environments where heating is not required.

Air Filter Maintenance: The air filter must be changed as shown in Figure 6 of the manual. Regular replacement of the air filter is crucial for maintaining optimal airflow and hygiene.

No Smell Load Charge (Air Freshener): The device includes an air freshener. Figure 7 shows how to install the no-smell charge. This helps maintain a pleasant environment in the washroom.

Water Tank Maintenance: The water tank needs to be emptied when the blue pilot light illuminates. To empty the tank:

  1. Press the two lateral clips and pull down the water tank, as shown in Figure 8.
  2. Remove the water tank from its fitting place, empty and clean the tank, and re-place it in its housing (Fig. 8).
  3. Press the push button as indicated in Figure 9 until all the water contained in the water tank is removed.

Basic Exploded View (Components): The manual provides a basic exploded view (Figure 10) and a list of components with their respective codes:

  1. Motor set (RC9111003UL)
  2. Electronic control (RC9121012UL)
  3. Air filter set (RCFILTROHEPA1)
  4. HEPA filter (RCFILTROHEPA2)
  5. Heating element (RC9141002UL)
  6. Air-freshener (9481002)

Electrical Safety:

  • The installer must ensure that the electric system is grounded in accordance with the law in force.
  • Ensure that the electric system has a high-sensitivity breaker (IΔn ≤ 0.03 A).
  • Always disconnect the machine from the electric power supply before performing maintenance operations.

This comprehensive description covers the key aspects of the Mediclinics 'Dualflow Plus' hand dryer, from its functional design to its technical specifications and essential maintenance procedures, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
