OIL CHANGE
Drain o the oil while the engine is warm, so that the oil drains quickly and fully. Make sure the engine
switch and the fuel cap lever are in the OFF position before draining.
1. Loosen the screw on the lid and remove the maintenance cover on the left side.
2. Remove the oil ller cap.
3. Drain o all the oil into a container.
4. Fill with new oil of the correct viscosity and check the oil level.
5. Ret the maintenance cover on the left side and tighten the screw on the lid securely.
NB Please dispose of used engine oil in an environmentally friendly way. It should be transported in a sealed
container and left at a local recycling centre. Do not throw the oil into the rubbish or pour it onto the ground.
Servicing the air lter
The air lter must be serviced regularly to prevent malfunction in the carburettor. Service it more often
when the generator is used in extremely dusty environments.
NB Do not use petrol or other solutions with a low ash point for cleaning. They are highly inammable
and explosive under certain conditions.
1. Loosen the screw on the lid and remove the maintenance cover on the left side.
2. Loosen the screw on the air lter cover and remove the cover.
3. Clean the main lter and outer lter in warm water with standard washing-up liquid and rinse
carefully, or wash them in a solution which is not ammable or has a very high ash point. Let the
lters dry thoroughly.
4. Soak the main lter and outer lter in clean engine oil and squeeze out any excess oil. The engine
will start to smoke upon starting if too much oil is left in the air lter.
5. Ret the air lter.
6. Check that the rubber seal ts into the groove on the air lter cover.
7. Ret the air lter cover and tighten the screw on the air lter cover.
8. Ret the maintenance cover on the left side and tighten the screw on the lid securely.
Spark plug service
Recommended spark plugs: NHSP LD A7RTC
For good engine performance, the spark plug must have the right spark gaps and be free from deposits.
1. Remove the maintenance cover for the spark plug.
2. Remove the spark plug cap.
3. Remove any dirt from around the base of the spark plug.
4. Remove the spark plug with the spark plug wrench.
5. Check the spark plug visually. Discard the spark plug if the insulator is cracked or chipped.
6. Clean the spark plug with a steel brush if it is to be used again.
7. Measure the spark gaps with a feeler gauge.
8. The gap must be 0.6 to 0.7 mm. Correct if necessary by carefully bending the side electrode.
