Overview

The device is a commercial microwave oven, specifically the Menumaster RFS model, designed for heating, cooking, or drying food in commercial settings. It operates on a 50 Hz frequency and is intended for professional use.

Function Description:

The microwave oven provides various cooking functionalities, including manual operation with specific time and power level settings, and preprogrammed cooking sequences. It features a control panel with numbered pads for programming and operation. Safety interlocks are integrated to prevent operation with the door open, and the unit is designed to meet radiation control requirements.

Important Technical Specifications (RFS518TS Model):

  • Power Source: 230V AC, 16 A, 50 Hz, Single Phase, 3-wire grounded.
  • Plug Configuration/Cord: CEE 7/7 "Schuko".
  • Nominal Microwave Energy (IEC705): 1800 W.
  • Minimum Temperature Rise: 7.7°C / 18°F.
  • Operating Frequency: 2450 MHz.
  • Cook Condition Microwave Power Consumption: 2700 W.
  • Cabinet Dimensions:
    • Width: 550 mm (21½")
    • Height: 362 mm (14½")
    • Depth: 514 mm (20½")
  • Cavity Dimensions:
    • Width: 362 mm (14½")
    • Height: 226 mm (9")
    • Depth: 416 mm (16 3/8")
  • Weight:
    • Crated: 32 kg (71 lbs.)
    • Uncrated: 30 kg (64 lbs.)

Usage Features:

  • Manual Operation: Users can set specific cooking times and power levels using the TIME ENTRY pad and numbered pads. Power levels can be adjusted, and stage cooking is supported for multi-step recipes.
  • Preprogrammed Pads: The oven allows for the use of preprogrammed cooking sequences. To use, open the door, place food, close the door, and press the desired pad. The oven will cook and then beep and shut off at the end of the cycle.
  • Programming Items: Cooking factors for preprogrammed pads can be changed. This involves opening the door, holding pad 1 for 5 seconds, pressing the pad to be reprogrammed, pressing the QTY 2X pad, and then a numbered pad to change the cooking factor (from 10% to 100%, default 80%). The START pad saves changes. Up to four different stages can be programmed for each pad.
  • QTY 2X Pad: This feature allows for doubling the cooking time of a preprogrammed pad sequence.
  • User Options (Customization): Various options can be changed to suit individual preferences, including:
    • End of Cycle Beep: Options for 3-second beep, continuous beep, or 5 beep bursts.
    • Key Beep Volume: Options to eliminate beep or set volume to low, medium, or high.
    • Key Beep (during operation): Prevents or allows beeping when a pad is pressed.
    • Active Display: Sets the duration after the oven door is opened before the keyboard is disabled (15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes).
    • On-the-Fly Cooking: Prevents or allows different pre-programmed pads to be activated during cooking.
    • Reset to Ready Mode: Determines if opening the oven door resets the oven to ready mode.
    • Maximum Heating Time (some models): Allows setting maximum heating time to 60 minutes or 10 minutes.
    • Manual Operation (control panel): Allows use of preprogrammed pads only, or manual time entry and preprogrammed pads.
    • Double Digit Operation (some models): Allows 10 (0-9) or 100 (00-99) preprogrammed pads.
    • Clean Filter Message: Options to not display the message, or display it for 24 hours every 7, 30, or 90 days.
  • Oven Placement: Requires at least 1½ inches (3.81 cm) of clearance around the top and sides for proper air flow to cool electrical components and prevent improper operation or reduced life of parts. Should not be installed near other heat sources (e.g., pizza oven, deep fat fryer) or with obstructed oven filters. Must be installed on a level countertop.
  • Radio Interference: The manual provides guidance on reducing or eliminating microwave operation interference with radio or television, including cleaning door and sealing surfaces, placing devices away from the oven, and using a properly installed antenna.

Maintenance Features:

  • Clean Filter Message: The oven displays "CLEAN FILTER" at user-defined intervals. ACP recommends thorough cleaning of the air filter when this message appears. The message will automatically stop displaying after 24 hours, but the filter may need more frequent cleaning depending on usage and environmental conditions.
  • Annual Servicing: An authorized servicer MUST inspect the equipment annually, and all inspections and repairs should be recorded for future reference.
  • Safety Information: The manual emphasizes important safety precautions for both users and service technicians, including proper grounding, avoiding operation with a damaged door or components, and discharging capacitors before servicing. It also outlines procedures for microwave leakage testing.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes detailed troubleshooting flowcharts for various issues, such as the oven not working, low output power, sparks, uneven cooking, display errors, fuse blows, and no microwave oscillation. These charts guide technicians through checks, results, causes, and remedies, including component testing procedures for thermal cutouts, diodes, capacitors, magnetrons, blower motors, stirrer motors, transformers, noise filter boards, and circuit protectors.
  • Component Testing Procedures: Detailed instructions are provided for testing various components, including measuring resistance and voltage, and checking continuity. These procedures are critical for diagnosing and repairing the microwave oven.
  • Schematic/Wiring Diagrams: The manual includes a schematic and wiring diagram (RFS518TS) to aid in understanding the electrical connections and troubleshooting.
