Note:Whentheshiftleverisinanyotherposition,
theenginecannotbestarted.
4Formanualtransmissionvehicle,ensureneutralis
selectedandtheclutchpedalisfullypressed;
5Insertthekeyandturntheignitionswitchclockwise
topositionIII;thenreleasethekeyimmediatelyafter
theenginehasstarted.
Note:Continueduseofthestarterwillnotonly
dischargethebattery,butmaydamagethestarter
andcatalyticconverter.
Idlespeedwilldecreaseafterenginewarm-up.Donot
increaseenginespeedimmediatelyafterstartingtheengine.
Progressivelyoperatetheengineandtransmissionsothat
oilcanwarm-upandlubricatealloperatingcomponents.
DONOTpresstheacceleratorpedalwhilestartingand
DONOToperatethestarterformorethan15seconds
atatime.Iftheenginefailstostart,turnofftheignition
switchandwaitatleast10secondsbeforetryingagain.
Ifthekeyisnotrecognisedbytheengineimmobilisation
systemwhenitisinsertedintotheignitionswitch,the
enginewillbedisabled.Therelevantalarmiconand
InvalidKeywillappearontheinformationcenter(refer
to"InformationCentre"in"InstrumentsandControls"
chapter).
ColdClimates
Intemperaturesof-10°Candbelow,enginecrankingtimes
willincrease.Itisessentialthatallunnecessaryelectrical
equipmentisswitchedoffwhilecranking.
