SelectingDwillallowthetransmissioncontrollerto
carryoutgearshiftstakinginconsiderationofanumber
offactorsincludingenginespeed,vehiclespeedand
acceleratorposition.Lightacceleratorpedalapplication
willresultinagear-changeatlowspeeds,largerpedal
applicationswillresultingear-changesathigherspeeds.
Kick-down
Thedrivewheelsmayskidwhenkick-downis
activatedonroadsurfaceswithlowadhesion,
thismayleadtothevehicleslidingoutof
control.
WithDgearselected,pressingtheacceleratorpedalall
thewaydowninonemotion(alsoknownasKick-down)
willprovidebetteraccelerationperformanceduring
overtaking.Undercertainconditions,itwillallowthe
transmissiontoshifttoalowergearimmediately,and
providefastacceleration.Oncetheacceleratorpedal
isreleased,itwillresumeasuitablenormalgear(based
onthevehiclespeedandthepositionoftheaccelerator
pedal).
VehicleStart-off
Thevehiclecanonlybestartedwiththebrakepedal
pressedandPorNselected;afterselectingthe
desiredgear,andwaitingforthefullengagementofthe
transmission,releasethebrakepedal,thevehiclewill
automaticallystartoffataslowspeed.
