cable ends. The following diagram shows the arrangement of wires
in each type of cable.
Straight-Through
Ethernet Cable
Both ends of a
straight-through
cable have the
same arrangement
of colored wires.
Crossover
Ethernet Cable
In a crossover cable,
the arrangement of
the colored wires
changes between
the two ends.
