S 500 & S 600 Canister Vacuums
3 Fault Repair
3.1 Bag Change Indicator Reacts Too Late
Cause:
Coarse dirt (e.g., hair or carpet fluff) has been vacuumed.
Coarse dirt fills the bag quickly but does not clog its pores. A vacuum is not
developed and the bag change indicator only reacts when the bag is
absolutely full to the limit.
Remedy:
Replace the bag.
Cause:
The bag change indicator is set to mixed dust, but the composition of the dirt
taken into the vacuum cleaner does not come under the category of mixed
dust
Remedy:
Turn the adjustment screw on the bag change indicator clockwise. (See Figure
020-1.) The indicator then reacts more quickly.
Figure 020-1: Turning the Adjustment Screw Clockwise
3.2 Bag Change Indicator Reacts Too Early
Cause:
Very fine dust (e.g., flour) has been vacuumed.
Fine dust clogs the bag pores immediately. The closed pores then allow a
vacuum to develop, which causes the bag change indicator to show that the
bag is full even though it is still empty.
Remedy:
Replace the bag.
