This document provides a quick start guide for the Miele T 8861 WP Edition 111 heat pump tumble dryer, outlining its functions, usage, and maintenance features. It emphasizes that these short instructions are not a substitute for the full operating instructions and encourages users to read the complete manual for detailed warning and safety information.
The Miele T 8861 WP Edition 111 is a heat pump tumble dryer designed to efficiently dry various types of laundry. It offers a range of drying programs tailored to different fabric types and desired drying levels, from "Extra dry" for multi-layered items to "Hand iron" for fabrics that require subsequent ironing. The heat pump technology ensures energy-efficient operation. The dryer also includes special programs for delicate items like woollens, outerwear, and items requiring proofing, as well as programs for hygiene and gentle smoothing.
The dryer's operation begins with preparing the laundry. Users are instructed to remove any objects, such as detergent dispensing balls, from the laundry and to sort items according to the required drying level, fabric type, or weave. Care labels on garments should be checked to ensure they are suitable for tumble drying.
To start, the user switches on the tumble dryer using the dedicated button. The door is opened by pressing the "Door" button, and laundry is loaded loosely into the drum. It's crucial to ensure the laundry is properly inside the drum to prevent trapping or damage when the door is closed.
Program selection is done via a rotary selector. Available programs include "Cottons," "Minimum iron," "Woollens," "Outerwear," "Proofing," "Express," "Automatic plus," "Shirts," "Denim," "Hygiene," "Warm air," and "Gentle smoothing." Once a program is selected, the relevant indicator light illuminates. Additional indicator lights for drying levels (Extra dry, Normal, Hand iron, Machine iron) or "Extras" and times may also be displayed. The user presses a button repeatedly to select the desired drying level.
The dryer offers "Extra options" such as "Gentle tumble" for items not suitable for intense mechanical action, available with programs like "Cottons," "Minimum iron," "Shirts," "Denim," and "Warm air." A "Buzzer" option, which sounds at intervals when the program finishes, can be selected with all programs.
A "Delay start" function allows users to postpone the program start by 30 minutes up to 24 hours, though this is not available with the "Warm air" program. The "Warm air" program itself is designed for "voluminous" and multi-layered fabrics, individual items, or small loads, and can also be used to remove odors from cotton clothing. The "Gentle smoothing" program is ideal for cotton and linen fabrics, as well as minimum iron items, to reduce creasing from the washing machine's spin cycle.
The program starts by pressing the "Start" button, which changes its indicator light from flashing to constantly lit. The "Perfect Dry" indicator light remains dark during time-controlled programs like "Woollens," "Proofing," "Warm air," and "Gentle smoothing."
Once the program is finished, "0" and "Finished" appear in the display, and the buzzer will sound if selected. The user opens the door, removes the laundry, and then switches off the dryer.
Regular maintenance is essential for the optimal performance of the Miele tumble dryer.
After every program, or if the "Empty container" indicator light comes on, the condensed water container needs to be emptied. This involves removing the container and pouring out the water. To switch off the "Empty container" indicator light, the door should be opened and closed while the dryer is switched on.
Fluff filters also require cleaning after every program. The process involves removing the fluff filter, which is typically a two-part component. The seal around the filter should also be cleaned with a damp cloth.
A fine filter needs to be cleaned only when the "Clean the filters" indicator light illuminates. To clean this, the fine filter is opened and removed. It then needs to be disassembled and cleaned. After cleaning, the handle with the filter attached is reinserted onto two guide pins, ensuring the yellow dot is on the left. To switch off the "Clean the filters" indicator light, the fine filter must be removed, cleaned, and refitted while the dryer is switched on.
These maintenance steps ensure efficient drying, prevent lint buildup, and prolong the lifespan of the appliance.
