Overview

This document is the instruction manual for the Millennium L-220-SL 18' Double Ladderstand, a treestand designed for hunting from an elevated position. The manual emphasizes safety, proper assembly, and correct usage to prevent serious injury or death.

Function Description:

The Millennium L-220-SL is an 18-foot double ladderstand, which means it's a two-person treestand that provides an elevated platform for hunting. It is designed to be installed on a tree, offering a stable and secure position above ground level. The ladderstand includes a seat assembly, platform, footrest, and shooting rail, all intended to provide comfort and functionality for hunters. A critical component of its safe operation is the mandatory use of a full-body fall arrest harness system (FAS), which is provided with the product. The manual also details the use of a Safe Link 2 Climbing Rope System, an optional accessory designed to ensure continuous attachment to the tree during ascent and descent.

Usage Features:

  • Mandatory Safety Video: Users are required to watch a safety video (accessible via QR code or www.standsafety.com/m3) before using the product.
  • Full-Body Fall Arrest Harness (FAS): The use of a TMA-recognized full-body fall arrest harness is mandatory at all times after leaving the ground. The manual provides detailed instructions on how to don, adjust, and use the harness, including threading the tree belt and adjusting the tether length to be as short as possible. The tether should be above the head with no slack in the sitting position.
  • Suspension Relief Device (SRD): An SRD is included to relieve pressure on lower extremities if suspended after a fall, helping to prevent suspension trauma. Users must practice deploying and using the SRD at ground level.
  • Safe Link 2 Climbing Rope System (Optional): This system provides continuous attachment to the tree during ascent and descent. It consists of a climbing rope, prusik hitch (with specific configuration requirements: six loops, secure knot, 3" tail), and carabiner. It is designed for one user at a time.
  • Three-Point Contact: Users must maintain three points of contact (two feet, one hand; or one foot, two hands) when climbing up or down the ladderstand.
  • Ground-Level Practice: Users must practice assembly, setup, installation, removal, and harness use at ground level before attempting to use the treestand at height.
  • Signaling Device: A signaling device (e.g., mobile phone, whistle) must be carried and accessible for emergency contact.
  • Informing Others: Users must inform someone of their hunting location, treestand position, and expected duration.
  • Weapon Handling: Weapons and gear must be unloaded and raised/lowered using a tether or pull-up rope, never carried while climbing.
  • Tree Selection: The treestand must be installed on a straight, healthy tree devoid of branches or obstructions, within the specified diameter range. Dead, leaning, diseased, loose-barked, or irregularly shaped trees, utility poles, or man-made structures are prohibited.
  • Ground Conditions: The ground under the ladderstand must be firm and level.
  • Weather Conditions: Do not use the treestand during thunderstorms, ice, snow, freezing rain, or any adverse weather that limits safe operation.
  • Physical Limitations: Do not use if experiencing heart problems, back problems, impaired vision, equilibrium problems, high blood pressure, or any other physical impairment that limits safe operation. Do not use while taking medication or consuming substances (including alcohol) that may impair ability.
  • Installation Team: A minimum of three (3) adults is required for installing and removing the ladderstand.
  • No Adjustments at Height: All adjustments to the treestand must be made while it is on the ground.
  • No Jumping/Bouncing: Do not jump or bounce on the treestand platform or seat.
  • No Leaning Backwards: When climbing, lean forward to keep the stand centered and secure to the tree trunk.
  • Limited Installation Duration: Do not leave the treestand installed for more than two weeks (14 days) due to environmental factors, animal damage, and tree growth.

Maintenance Features:

  • Annual Review: Review the instruction manual and safety videos at least annually.
  • Regular Inspection: Thoroughly inspect the treestand and all safety devices (straps, chains, buckles, hardware, webbing, harness components) before each use for signs of wear, damage, rot, corrosion, cracks, deterioration, or vandalism. Replace damaged or worn parts with genuine factory-authorized Millennium replacement parts.
  • Strap Replacement: All straps and suspension seats must be replaced every year. Attachment belts must be replaced every three years.
  • Harness Replacement: The full-body fall arrest harness must be replaced after three (3) years of service or immediately if a fall occurs.
  • Hardware Tightening: Ensure all nuts, bolts, chains, cable straps, and attachment hardware are secure and tightened to 50 inch-pounds.
  • Storage: Store the treestand and all safety devices indoors, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, freezing temperatures, and harsh environmental conditions when not in use.
  • No Modifications: Do not remove, modify, omit, or mechanically alter any part of the Millennium product(s) or its assemblies. Unauthorized modifications void the warranty.
  • Safe Link 2 System Replacement: Replace the Safe Link 2 climbing rope system if it has been subjected to severe shock loading, overloading, shows signs of wear (fraying, abrasion, nicking, stretching), exposed to inclement weather for more than two weeks, become stiff or hard, or been subjected to vandalism or animal damage.
  • Cleaning: The Safe Link 2 climbing rope system should NOT be washed in a washing machine.
