Overview

The device described in the manual is the Millennium L-110-SL 21' Ladderstand, a treestand designed for hunting and outdoor activities. It is a ladder-style treestand that allows a user to ascend to an elevated position in a tree for observation or hunting. The manual emphasizes safety, requiring users to read all instructions and watch a safety video before use.

Function Description:

The Millennium L-110-SL 21' Ladderstand provides an elevated platform and seat for a single user in a tree. It consists of multiple ladder sections that are assembled and secured to a tree, leading up to a platform with a seat, shooting rail, and footrest. The primary function is to position a user at a height of 21 feet for hunting, offering a stable and secure vantage point. The treestand is designed for adult use only, and a minimum of three adults is required for its installation and removal. It is crucial to use the provided full-body fall arrest harness system (FAS) at all times when off the ground to prevent serious injury or death from falls. The FAS includes a full-body harness, lanyard/tether, tree belt, suspension relief device, and climbing belt/lineman's belt (as applicable). The treestand is intended for use on straight, healthy trees with specific diameter requirements and on firm, level ground.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model Number: L-110-SL Ladderstand
  • Maximum Weight Capacity: 300 pounds (136 kg) (includes user and equipment). Exceeding this limit can result in serious injury or death.
  • Height: 21 feet (implied by model name).
  • Tree Diameter Requirement: Minimum of 9 inches (at treestand installation height) for general Millennium products, and specifically a minimum of 12 inches (30 cm) and a maximum of 22 inches (56 cm) at treestand installation height (seat height) for this ladderstand.
  • Assembly Torque: All hardware must be tightened to 50 inch-pounds.
  • Full-Body Fall Arrest Harness System (FAS) Service Life: Three (3) years past its date of manufacture. The harness must be replaced if this service life has expired or if a fall has occurred.
  • Strap Replacement: All straps and suspension seats must be replaced every year. Attachment belts must be replaced every three years.
  • Footrest/Shooting Rail Weight Limit: Do not place more than fifteen (15) pounds (7 kg) of weight on the footrest or shooting rail, as these are not designed to support user weight.

Usage Features:

  • Safety First: The manual repeatedly stresses the importance of reading all instructions, watching the safety video (accessible via QR code or URL), and practicing assembly and FAS use at ground level before attempting to use the treestand at height.
  • Full-Body Fall Arrest Harness System (FAS): Mandatory use of the FAS at all times when off the ground. The FAS must meet or exceed TMA (Treestand Manufacturer's Association) industry standards. The tether length must be kept as short as possible to minimize fall distance, adjusted to be above the head with no slack when sitting, and minimal slack when climbing. The FAS includes a Suspension Relief Device (SRD) to prevent suspension trauma in case of a fall.
  • Three-Point Contact: Users must maintain three-point contact (two feet and one hand, or one foot and two hands) when climbing up or down the ladder.
  • Ground Conditions: The treestand must be installed on firm, level ground, cleared of debris. Sloping or uneven ground can cause the ladder to tilt or shift.
  • Tree Selection: Use only on straight, healthy trees free of branches, vines, or other obstructions. Avoid dead, leaning, diseased, loose-barked, or irregularly shaped trees, as well as utility poles or man-made structures. The tree must allow for a level standing platform.
  • Installation: Requires a minimum of three adults. The ladder sections are pinned together with spring pins, which must be fully engaged. Stabilizer straps and ratchet straps are used to secure the treestand to the tree.
  • Weapon and Gear Handling: Weapons and gear must be unloaded and pulled up or lowered using a tether or pull-up rope, never carried while climbing.
  • Environmental Conditions: Do not use in adverse weather conditions such as ice, snow, freezing rain, thunderstorms (within 5 miles), strong winds, lightning, or sleet. Return to ground level immediately if inclement weather arises.
  • Pre-Use Inspection: Thoroughly inspect the treestand, all components, and safety devices (straps, hardware, FAS) for wear, rot, corrosion, cracks, deterioration, or any other defects before each use.
  • No Modifications: Do not remove, modify, omit, fix, repair, alter, bend, cut, weld, or heat any part of the treestand or its assemblies without explicit written authorization from Millennium. Use only genuine factory-authorized replacement parts.
  • Signaling Device: Carry a signaling device (e.g., mobile phone, radio, whistle, signal flare, PLD) in operable condition and within easy access for emergencies.
  • Self-Recovery Plan: Have a personal self-recovery/escape plan in case of a fall, especially if hunting alone or in an unknown location. Practice this plan at ground level.
  • Comfortable Hunting Height: Hunt only at heights where you are completely comfortable.

Maintenance Features:

  • Storage: Store the treestand and its components (especially the FAS) indoors, out of direct sunlight, and away from harsh environmental conditions when not in use.
  • Regular Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of the treestand, all components, and safety devices before each use for signs of wear, rot, corrosion, cracks, deterioration, or vandalism.
  • Replacement of Worn Parts: Replace any damaged or worn parts with original factory-authorized Millennium parts.
  • Strap and Harness Replacement: Replace all straps and suspension seats annually. Replace attachment belts every three years. The full-body fall arrest harness must be replaced after three years of service or immediately if a fall occurs.
  • Warranty: Millennium Outdoors, LLC provides a one (1) year warranty against defects in material and workmanship under proper use and storage. Proof of purchase and return of the warranty application card are required for claims. Exclusions include seat, paint, plastics, webbing, and defects caused by misuse or abuse.
  • Installation Duration: Do not leave the treestand installed for more than two weeks (14 days) to prevent damage from weather, animals, or tree growth affecting its integrity and safety.
  • Cleaning: The manual does not explicitly state cleaning instructions but implies general care to maintain the powder coating finish. The Safe Link climbing rope system should not be washed in a washing machine.
