Do you have a question about the Milwaukee M18 CH-0X and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Milwaukee M18 CH is a cordless rotary hammer designed for versatile use in hammer drilling in stone and drilling in wood, metal, and plastic, operating independently of a mains connection.

Function Description:

The device is a rotary hammer that utilizes a pneumatic hammer mechanism for efficient impact drilling. It is powered by an 18V battery pack. The tool features an on/off switch for operation and a mechanism for inserting and locking drill bits or chisels. An auxiliary handle is provided to ensure better control during use, reducing the risk of injury. The tool also incorporates an anti-vibration system (AVS) to minimize user exposure to vibrations. A battery overload protection system is in place, which causes the tool to "buzz" for 2 seconds and then shut off automatically if the battery experiences high current draw (e.g., due to extreme torque, drill bit jamming, sudden stops, or short circuits). If the battery overheats under extreme loads, it will also shut down.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Battery Voltage: 18 V
  • No-load Speed: 0 - 1400 min⁻¹
  • Max. Impact Rate under Load: 0 - 4900 min⁻¹
  • Single Impact Energy (EPTA-Procedure 05/2009): 2.5 J
  • Drilling Diameter in Concrete: 26 mm
  • Drilling Diameter in Steel: 13 mm
  • Drilling Diameter in Wood: 28 mm
  • Core Bit Drilling in Concrete, Brick, and Limestone: 65 mm
  • Collar Diameter: 43 mm
  • Weight (EPTA-Procedure 01/2014, Li-ion 5.0 Ah): 3.4 kg
  • Noise Levels (EN 60745):
    • Sound Pressure Level (Uncertainty K=3dB(A)): 90.7 dB (A)
    • Sound Power Level (Uncertainty K=3dB(A)): 101.7 dB (A)
    • Hearing protection is required during operation.
  • Vibration Information (EN 60745):
    • Hammer Drilling in Concrete (ah,HD): 8.9 m/s² (Uncertainty K=1.5 m/s²)
    • Chiseling (ah,Cheq): 9.5 m/s² (Uncertainty K=1.5 m/s²)

Usage Features:

  • Cold Start: If the tool has been stored for a long time or at low temperatures, the lubricant may harden, preventing the hammer function from engaging immediately. To warm up the tool, insert and lock a drill bit or chisel, then press the on/off switch and apply pressure against a concrete or wooden surface for a few seconds. Repeat until the hammer function engages. The colder the tool, the longer it will take to warm up.
  • Battery Management: Batteries not used for extended periods should be recharged before use. Performance decreases above 50°C (122°F); avoid prolonged exposure to heat or direct sunlight. Charger and battery contacts must be kept clean. For optimal lifespan, fully charge batteries after use and remove them from the charger once charged.
  • Storage: For storage longer than 30 days, keep batteries in a dry place at approximately 27°C (80°F) with a 30%-50% charge. Recharge every 6 months.
  • Safety Precautions: Always wear safety glasses and recommended protective gear such as dust masks, gloves, sturdy non-slip footwear, helmet, and hearing protection. Ensure proper ventilation to avoid inhaling dust. When working on walls, ceilings, or floors, be aware of electrical cables, gas, and water pipes. Remove the battery pack before any work on the machine.
  • Lithium-ion Battery Transport: These batteries are subject to hazardous goods transport regulations. Transport must comply with local, national, and international provisions. Users can transport them by road without additional requirements. Commercial transport by shipping companies requires trained personnel and professional supervision. Ensure contacts are protected and insulated to prevent short circuits, and that the battery pack is secured within the packaging. Do not transport damaged or leaking batteries.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Always keep the ventilation slots of the machine clean.
  • Brush Replacement: If carbon brushes are worn, the tool should be sent to an authorized service workshop for general service in addition to brush replacement. This ensures a long service life and consistent operational readiness.
  • Parts and Accessories: Only use Milwaukee accessories and spare parts. Components not described for replacement should be replaced by a Milwaukee service center (refer to the warranty/service address brochure). Exploded drawings can be requested from your service center or directly from Techtronic Industries GmbH, Max-Eyth-Straße 10, 71364 Winnenden, Germany, by providing the machine type and the 10-digit number from the rating plate.
  • Disposal: Electrical devices, batteries, and accumulators must not be disposed of with household waste. They must be collected separately and delivered to an environmentally sound recycling facility. Contact local authorities or specialist dealers for recycling centers and collection points.
