Function Description

The Tan.Handy Personal Spray Tan Kit is designed to provide a perfect spray tan at home. It consists of a mini-turbine and a spray tan gun that work together to apply tanning solution evenly to the skin. The device is intended for personal use and aims to replicate the results of professional tanning equipment.

Important Technical Specifications

The device operates on either 220-240V or 120V, depending on the region, with a frequency of 60Hz. It has a power rating of 150W and draws 1.2A. The serial number for the device can be found on the rating plate, typically on the base of the machine. The manufacturer is Tan.Easy Pro Tools, located at 80 Market St, South Melbourne, 3205.

Usage Features

Assembly:

  1. Attach Spray Tan Gun to Mini-Turbine: Insert the bottom of the spray tan gun's handle into the connector of the mini-turbine.
  2. Secure Connection: The spray tan gun features a 'quick-connect' style fitting that locks it firmly into place with the mini-turbine.
  3. Power Connection: Once the gun is attached, insert the power cord into the device and then into a wall plug. Turn on the power at the wall switch.

Removing the Spray Tan Gun: To remove the spray tan gun for cleaning or refilling the solution cup, detach it using the 'quick-connect' fitting and then remove it from the mini-turbine.

Pre-Tanning Preparation:

  1. Exfoliation: Prior to tanning, exfoliate the skin using an exfoliating mitt to ensure a smoother application and even fading.
  2. Clean and Dry Skin: Ensure skin is completely clean and dry. Avoid applying moisturisers, oils, deodorants, or perfumes.
  3. Hair and Jewelry: Put hair up with a plastic cap and remove all jewelry.
  4. Waxing/Shaving: Perform waxing or shaving at least 24 hours before tanning.
  5. Patch Test (for sensitive skin): If skin is very sensitive, conduct a patch test a minimum of 12 hours prior to full application.

Setting Spray Pattern: The device allows adjustment of the spray-pattern nozzle to suit preferred tanning styles:

  • Spraying Side to Side (Across the Body): Set the nozzle fan to 'Horizontal'. This pattern is ideal for spraying left-to-right or right-to-left across the body.
  • Spraying Up & Down (Up & Down the Body): Set the nozzle fan to 'Vertical'. This pattern is perfect for spraying top-to-bottom or bottom-to-top.

Operation:

  • Power On/Airflow: Turn the device on by pressing the on switch. The Tan.Handy features an intelligent Air-Smart Switch that controls airflow for a perfect spray, aiming for flawless results.

Spray Tan Technique:

  1. Distance: Hold the Tan.Handy approximately 10-15cm (4-6") away from the skin.
  2. Application Motion: Start at the feet and work upwards using sweeping, steady motions. Keep the Tan.Handy moving continuously to avoid dark spots.
  3. Correcting Dark Spots: If a dark spot occurs, smooth it out immediately with an Application Mitt and continue spraying.
  4. Coverage: Work your way up the entire body, ensuring complete and even coverage.
  5. Avoid Specific Areas: Avoid spraying directly on heels, knees, and elbows to prevent deeper tanning.
  6. Drying: Allow the tan to dry before wearing clothing. Follow product instructions for best results. Avoid swimming or exercising for the next 24 hours.

Storage:

  1. Cool Down: Always allow the Tan.Handy to cool down before storing.
  2. Cord Management: Once cooled, fold the power cord as it was originally packaged. Do not wrap the cord around the device, as this can strain the cord and cause premature failure.
  3. Solution Storage: Any spray tan solution will last longer if stored in the refrigerator after opening.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning Your Tan.Handy Filter: The filter is located at the front of the mini-turbine.

  1. Disconnect Power: Always disconnect the device from the supply circuit before cleaning or removing filters.
  2. Remove Filter Cover: Remove the filter cover from the mini-turbine.
  3. Wash Filter: Wash the filter under cold water. Do not use detergents.
  4. Dry Completely: Allow the filter to dry completely before re-inserting.
  5. Frequency: Wash the mini compressor filter with water at least every 6 months.

Cleaning Your Tan.Handy Spray Tan Gun: Clean the spray tan gun after each use. Do not use alcohol, acetone, petrol, or any abrasive-cleaning agents.

  1. Remove Spray Tan Gun: Remove the spray tan gun from the Tan.Handy Mini Turbine.
  2. Empty Solution Cup: Unscrew the cup from the spray gun and empty any unused solution.
  3. Rinse Solution Cup: Rinse the empty solution cup with warm water until clean, then fill it about ¼ full of warm water.
  4. Reassemble: Insert the cup and screw it tightly back into the spray tan gun, then reconnect to the mini-turbine.
  5. Clean Nozzle: Turn on the Tan.Handy and direct the spray tan gun into a sink. Spray the clean water through until the cup is empty. This cleans through the needle and out to the spray-pattern nozzle.
  6. Disconnect and Unscrew: Disconnect the spray tan gun from the mini-turbine and unscrew the cup.
  7. Wipe Dry: Wipe all areas dry with a cloth, including the cup and Tan.Handy, ready for next use.
  8. Important Note: Do not submerge the spray gun under water. If there is excess spray solution, wipe down with cleaning wipes. Alternatively, use a smooth cloth (avoiding anything abrasive) with a general glass cleaner to maintain the gloss finish.
