Usage Features

Getting Started:

  • Inserting Memory Card: Open the battery door, slide the battery door towards the rear of the camcorder, and flip open. Insert the SD memory card with metal contacts facing inward until it clicks. To remove, push the card down until you hear an audible click.
  • Installing Battery: Push the battery in until it locks into place. Open the battery door by sliding it towards the rear of the camcorder, then flip open. Insert the battery with metal contacts facing inward until it clicks. To remove, slide the battery lock away from the battery and the battery will eject.
  • Charging Battery: Connect the camcorder to the included AC adaptor with the USB cable. The LED indicator light will light up red while charging and turn green when charging is complete.
  • Powering On/Off: Press and hold the POWER button for 2 seconds to power on. To power off, press the POWER button. The camcorder automatically powers on and off when the screen is opened or closed. If the battery is low, a "Low Power" message will display.
  • Switching Modes: Press the MODE button to view different mode options (Video, Photo, Setup, WiFi). Press the ZOOM, RIGHT, or LEFT buttons or OK button to enter that mode. The corresponding mode will be displayed in the top left corner of the screen.

Button Function Description:

  • Power: Press and hold for 2 seconds to power on, tap once to power off.
  • Mode: Tap to cycle between Video, Photo, Setup, and WiFi modes.
  • Menu: Tap to access and exit all menus and submenus.
    • In Video and Photo: Press right to zoom-in. Press left to zoom-out.
    • In Menu: Press to go to the previous or next setting option.
  • Zoom:
    • In Video Playback: Press to go to the previous or next video. While playing a video, press to increase and decrease the volume.
    • In Photo Playback: Press to go to the previous or next photo. While viewing a photo, slide to the right to zoom in on the photo, slide to the left to zoom out.
  • Photo:
    • In Photo: Press softly to focus the image. Press hard to capture a photo.
    • In Video: Tap to pause a recording, tap again to resume recording.
    • In Playback: While playing a recorded video, tap to pause and tap again to resume. OK button in menus. Tap to confirm a setting.
  • Record:
    • In Video: Tap to start/stop recording video.
    • In Playback: Tap to stop a playing video.
  • Display:
    • In Photo and Video: Tap to turn off the icons on the screen, tap again to turn the display off, tap a third time to turn on the display with the icons.
  • Up | LED Light Button:
    • In Video and Photo: Press to turn on the LED Light.
    • In Video Playback: Press to increase the volume.
    • In Menu: Press to select the desired submenu.
  • Down | Delete:
    • In Video, Photo and Playback: Press to delete the last image or video.
    • In Menus: Press to select the desired submenu.
  • Right | Exposure:
    • In Photo and Video: Press to increase the exposure.
    • In Video Playback: Press to go to the next video.
    • In Photo Playback: While viewing a zoomed in photo, press to move the image on the screen to the right.
    • In Menu: Press to go to the next setting option.
  • Left | Exposure:
    • In Photo and Video: Press to decrease the exposure.
    • In Video Playback: Press to go to the previous video.
    • In Photo Playback: While viewing a zoomed in photo, press to move the image on the screen to the left.
    • In Menu: Press to go to the previous setting option.
  • White LED Light: White LED light to assist with vision and recording in a low-light environment.
  • Tripod Mount: Mount port for attaching to a tripod nut.
  • Battery/Memory Card Door: Door to cover storage slot for inserting the battery and a memory card.
  • Speaker: Built-in speaker output for playback of video files when audio recording is enabled.
  • Lens: Front capture device for all video and photo.

Connecting to a Computer: Connect the camcorder to a computer using the USB cable. The camcorder will appear as a removable disk or "PC Camera". Use the ZOOM button to select your desired mode and press the PHOTO button to enter that mode.

Connecting to a TV: Connect the camcorder to a TV using the HDMI cable. The camcorder screen will turn off and the camcorder will function normally. Use the TV as the camcorder monitor.

Remote Control: The camcorder comes with a remote control for various functions including zoom, video/photo mode, play/stop, rewind/fast forward, volume, and delete. Ensure no objects are between the remote and camcorder to avoid blocking the signal.

Using the Smartphone App (D Video App):

  • Connecting: Download the "D Video" app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Turn on the camcorder and press the MODE button, then press the ZOOM, RIGHT, or LEFT buttons to select WiFi and press the PHOTO or OK buttons to enter WiFi mode. The Network Name (SSID) and password will be displayed on the screen. Close the wireless menu, press the PHOTO button. The status LED will blink BLUE while searching for a WiFi connection. Open your phone's wireless menu, turn all wireless settings on and connect to the network named "MN4K100Z" then join the network, password is 12345678. Once connected, the camcorder screen will show the mode in the top left corner, the resolution next to it and a WiFi icon next to that. The status LED will be a solid BLUE when connected.
  • Remote Operation: Exit the wireless menu on your smartphone and open the "D Video" app to launch remote operation of the camcorder. Press the "Connect Camera" button in the app to connect to your camcorder.
  • Recording Videos Remotely: To start recording a video, press the record button in the middle of your smartphone screen. While recording, a red dot will blink on the camcorder screen and the letters REC will flash on your smartphone's screen. Video resolution can be changed in the app.
  • Taking Photos Remotely: To take a photo, press the photo button in the middle of your smartphone screen. When a photo is taken, the LED status indicator on the rear of the camcorder will flash red once. Photo resolution can be changed in the app.
  • Viewing Media on the App: To view recorded images and videos, press the photo gallery button in the bottom right corner of your smartphone's screen. Tap the photo or video file you wish to view. From this screen, media can be saved to your smartphone and deleted. If a photo or video is deleted on the app, it will also be removed from the SD card in the camcorder.
  • Changing Camcorder Settings on the App: Press the icon in the top right corner of your smartphone's screen to launch the settings menu. From here, a number of settings can be changed.

Camcorder Settings (Menu Navigation): The camcorder's menus can be navigated via the touch screen. Press the 'MENU' icon in the bottom left corner of the touch screen to change chosen settings.

  • Video Recording: Press the MODE button to switch to Video Mode.
    • Movie Size (Resolution): Select desired resolution (2.7K, 1080P, 720P, 480P). Higher resolution and faster frames per second rate will produce a higher quality and larger video file.
    • White Balance: Adjust color of light (Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent, Tungsten).
    • Color Effect: Apply color filters (Standard, Sepia, Monochrome, Vivid).
    • Exposure: Adjust frame brightness (-3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2, +3).
    • Date Stamp: Imprint date & time onto recorded video files.
    • Metering: Adjust appropriate exposure (quantity of light reaching the camcorder lens) (Multi, Center, Spot).
    • Time-Lapse: Capture long sequences of events in a much shorter time period. Select '5 Seconds' to capture a photo every 5 seconds and create a time-lapse video.
  • Photo Shooting: Press the MODE button to switch to Photo Mode.
    • Photo Size (Resolution): Select desired resolution (28MP, 24MP, 20MP, 16MP, 12MP, 10MP, 7MP HD, 5MP, 3MP, 2MP HD, VGA).
    • White Balance: Adjust color of light (Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent, Tungsten).
    • Color Effect: Apply color filters (Standard, Sepia, Monochrome, Vivid).
    • Exposure: Adjust frame brightness (-3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2, +3).
    • Metering: Adjust appropriate exposure (Multi, Center, Spot).
    • Sharpness: Adjust visible detail of a photograph (Soft, Normal, Sharp).
    • ISO: Adjust light sensitivity (Auto, 100, 200, 400).
    • Function - Self Timer: Set a time delay before a photograph is captured (Off, 2 Seconds, 5 Seconds, 10 Seconds).
    • Function - Anti-Shake: Enables photo capture in high speed and low-light by electronically minimizing motion blur and reducing camcorder shake (On, Off).
    • Function - Face Detection: Allows the camcorder to detect faces in a scene and adjust the camcorder's setting for the most optimal picture (On, Off).
    • Function - Macro: Allows the camera to take extreme close-up photographs of small objects, like insects, flowers and more, and show them larger than life size in the photograph (On, Off).
    • Function - Photo Burst: Captures 3 consecutive photos with one click of the PHOTO button.
    • Function - Date Stamp: Imprint a date & time onto your captured image files.
  • Playback Mode:
    • Video Playback: Follow the steps to enter the Video Playback mode. Press the ZOOM buttons to cycle through captured videos stored on the memory card. To enter a video, press the PHOTO or OK buttons. Use the ZOOM, LEFT or RIGHT buttons to see the previous or next recorded video. While viewing a recorded video, press the PHOTO or OK buttons to start playing a recorded video, press the PHOTO or OK buttons again to pause the video and press the RECORD button to stop the video. While a video is playing, use the ZOOM, UP or DOWN buttons to increase or decrease the playback volume.
    • Photo Playback: Follow the steps to enter the Photo Playback mode. Press the ZOOM buttons to cycle through the captured photos stored on the memory card. To enter a photo, press the PHOTO or OK buttons. Use the ZOOM, LEFT or RIGHT buttons to see the previous or next recorded photo. While viewing a photo, press the PHOTO or OK buttons to start the slide show and press the PHOTO or OK buttons again to pause. Press the MENU button to access the slide show settings. Press the ZOOM, LEFT or RIGHT buttons to navigate the menu and press the PHOTO button to confirm your selected setting (3 Seconds, 5 Seconds, 10 Seconds). Once the time duration has been chosen, press the MENU button to exit the settings. To exit the 'Slide Show' submenu without making a selection, press the MENU button.
    • Delete: This function is used to delete videos. Videos can be deleted singly or all at once. Deleted videos are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
    • Protect: This function protects the video file. The file will be protected from being deleted accidentally. Files must be unprotected to be deleted.
    • Slide Show: Photographs can be viewed as a slideshow on the camcorder.
  • Setup Mode: Basic settings can be changed in the Setup menu.
    • Language: Sets the camcorder's interface language.
    • Beep Sound: Turns the sound the camcorder makes after pressing a button, on or off.
    • Set Date and Time: Sets the current Date and Time on your recorded video clips and captured photos.
    • Frequency: Sets the frequency of the camcorder from 50Hz to 60Hz.
    • Power Save: Sets the duration of time in which the camcorder will wait with no user input before automatically powering off.
    • Format Memory Card: The format setting erases all photos, videos and data stored on your memory card. NOTE: This will delete all of your media and cannot be undone.
    • Restore Default Settings: Factory default settings can be restored in this menu.

Maintenance Features

General Care:

  • Do not disassemble or attempt to service the camcorder yourself.
  • Do not expose the camcorder to moisture, or extreme temperatures.
  • Allow the camcorder to warm up when moving from cold to warm temperatures.
  • Do not touch and put pressure on the camcorder lens.
  • Do not expose the lens to direct sunlight for extended periods.
  • Do not use abrasive chemicals, cleaning solvents or strong detergents to clean the product. Wipe the product with a slightly damp soft cloth.
  • Do not use the flash or LED Light near a person's eyes to prevent possible eye injury.
  • To prevent you from falling over or resulting in traffic accident, please do not use the camcorder while you are walking, driving or riding a vehicle.
  • Please handle the camcorder strap with care, and never place the strap around the neck of an infant or child. Wrapping the strap around a neck may cause suffocation.
  • Do not subject the LCD screen to impact.
  • To prevent the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture.
  • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

Battery Information:

  • Turn off the camcorder before installing or removing the battery.
  • Use only the provided batteries or type of battery and charger that came with your camcorder. Using other types of battery or charger may damage the device and invalidate the warranty.
  • Inserting the battery upside down can cause damage to the product and possibly cause an explosion.
  • When the camcorder is used for an extended period of time, it is normal for the camcorder body to feel warm.
  • Download all pictures and remove the battery from the camcorder if you are going to store the camcorder for a long period of time.
  • The type of battery and the battery power level may cause the lens to be stuck up. Ensure you use the correct battery type and use a fully charged battery.
  • Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.
  • Please keep the batteries out of the reach of children to prevent from swallowing batteries, which might cause poisoning.
  • Once the battery's color changes or its shape is twisted, please stop using it.

USB Adapter Information:

  • Do not expose the adapter to high temperatures or moisture places. Otherwise, it may cause fire or electric shock.
  • Do not attempt to repair, disassemble, change or transform the adapter.
  • Avoid sudden changes in temperature, which may cause condensation on the adapter's internal surfaces. Please do not use it immediately in this situation.
  • Do not touch the plug with wet hands. Otherwise, it may cause electric shock.
  • Do not use the travel voltage converter or AC/DC power inverter. Otherwise, it may cause damage, overheating, malfunction or fire to the camcorder.

Memory Card Care:

  • Please format the memory card before using the camcorder (Caution, this will erase all data on the card).
  • Do not remove or insert the memory card when recording. It may damage the card or cause data loss.
  • Memory card rating must be Class 10 or above.
