Overview

The Miseno Skirted HET Single- and Dual-Flush Toilet is a modern, water-efficient toilet designed for easy installation and reliable performance. This installation guide provides comprehensive instructions for setting up the toilet, from removing an old unit to connecting the water supply and adjusting flush mechanisms.

Function Description:

The Miseno Skirted HET Toilet is a high-efficiency toilet (HET) that offers both single-flush and dual-flush capabilities, allowing users to choose between a full flush for solid waste and a reduced flush for liquid waste, thereby conserving water. The skirted design provides a sleek, contemporary look and simplifies cleaning by eliminating hard-to-reach crevices around the base. The toilet utilizes a gravity-fed flushing system, ensuring efficient waste removal with each flush.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Flush Type: Single-flush and Dual-flush (High-Efficiency Toilet - HET)
  • WaterSense Certified: Meets EPA criteria for water efficiency, indicating it uses less water than standard toilets while maintaining performance.
  • Mounting Assembly: Designed for floor outlet flanges that are proud of, or even with, the flooring. Recessed flanges may require additional sealing.
  • Connection: Standard water supply line connection.
  • Materials: Vitreous china for the tank and base, with various internal components made of rubber, plastic, and metal.

Usage Features:

  • Dual-Flush Mechanism: Features a top-mounted button assembly with distinct buttons for short (liquid waste) and long (solid waste) flushes, promoting water conservation.
  • Easy-to-Clean Design: The skirted base eliminates exposed trapways, making the exterior smooth and easy to wipe down.
  • Adjustable Waterline: A thumbscrew on the fill valve allows users to adjust the waterline level inside the tank to optimize flush performance and water usage.
  • Adjustable Flush Rods: The flush rods for the dual-flush mechanism are adjustable, ensuring proper alignment and optimal performance of the flush buttons.
  • Secure Installation: The installation process involves a wax ring seal plate and connection brackets that firmly secure the toilet to the floor outlet flange, preventing leaks.
  • Quick-Connect Seat: The toilet seat features quick-connect bolts for easy installation and removal, simplifying cleaning and maintenance.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The toilet should be cleaned with mild, soapy water and a soft cloth. Harsh detergents, disinfectants, abrasive scouring powders, or aerosol cleaners should be avoided as they can damage the product surface and seat finish.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting section for common issues such as the fill valve not filling or not stopping, leaks, and poor flush performance. This guide helps users diagnose and resolve problems like a closed water supply, stuck float valve, loose flush valve nuts, or improper water level.
  • Part Replacement Information: The inside back of the toilet tank is stamped with replacement part information, which should be recorded and maintained for future maintenance and reliable service.
  • Warning Against In-Tank Cleaners: The manual explicitly warns against using in-tank toilet bowl cleaners containing bleach or chlorine. Such products can damage tank components, lead to flooding, and void the manufacturer's warranty.
  • Warranty: The toilet comes with a limited warranty: ten (10) years for the tank and base, and one (1) year for the ballcock, flush valve, and trip lever. The warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship for the original purchaser or first homeowner. It does not cover failures due to chlorine or other chemicals, installation/labor costs, damage from supply line failures, improper installation, abuse, misuse, non-compliance with building codes, or faulty maintenance.

Installation Process Highlights:

  1. Preparation: Shut off water, drain old toilet, disconnect supply, remove old toilet, and clean the flange.
  2. Wax Ring and Brackets: Install T-bolts, wax ring, seal plate, and flange connection brackets onto the floor outlet flange, tightening to seal the wax ring.
  3. Toilet Base Installation: Apply sealant to the toilet base, align it with the connection brackets on the floor flange, push down firmly to seat the outlet horn into the rubber gasket, and secure with fixing screws and decorative caps.
  4. Toilet Tank Installation: Check tank fittings for tightness, install the rubber coupling gasket, connect the flexible supply valve, insert tank connection bolts with washers and gaskets, place the tank on the base, and secure with washers and nuts. Caution: Do not overtighten bolts.
  5. Water Supply Connection: Route the supply line to the water shut-off valve, open the valve slowly, and check for leaks. Adjust the waterline level in the tank using the fill valve thumbscrew.
  6. Flush Rod Adjustment (Dual-Flush): Position the lid, align the button assembly, and adjust the length of the push rods to ensure they lightly touch the flush valve buttons.
