Temperature Settings and Cooking Times
Please note that the temperature settings and
times given throughout this booklet may need to
be varied depending on individual requirements.
Simmering Temperature
Since the boiling point of water is affected by
differences in altitude and other conditions, the
simmering temperature should be determined for
your Frypan in your area by following this simple
home test:
Pour 4 cups of water into the Frypan; cover,
leaving steam vent open. Attach power connector
to the Frypan, then plug into a standard domestic
power outlet. Set temperature control knob to
120°C. After 10 minutes, water will be boiling
steadily. Turn temperature control knob slowly
anti-clockwise until the signal light goes off.
This setting is the simmering temperature.
Note it below, or mark it on the temperature
control knob. Use this setting for simmering or
steaming.
My Frypan simmering temperature is _______.
Steam Vent
The MEF44 has a steam vent located within the lid
knob. The amount of venting can be adjusted as
required by the recipe or cooking technique.
The MREF50, MREF41, MEF10, MES45 & MXF64
have xed steam vents built-in to the glass lids.
Tilt Foot
(MEF44 only)
The MEF44 is tted with a tilt foot which is operated
by pushing the foot down while lifting the Frypan.
With the foot in position, the pan rests at an angle,
permitting excess cooking oil, fat, liquid, etc to
run to one side, away from the food.
How to care for your Frypan
The Teon
®
Platinum non-stick surface on your
Frypan allows you to cook with less oil or fat.
To achieve continued good results from your
Frypan, it is essential that you follow these care
and cleaning directions.
Note: The non-stick material is non-toxic
if inadvertently ingested.
Extremely high temperatures can cause discolouration
and reduce the life of any non-stick surface.
Generally, a medium setting on your Frypan
combined with the excellent heat distribution of
the aluminium body will provide sufcient heat
for most cooking needs. If high temperatures are
necessary, introduce the heat gradually by pre-
heating the Frypan on a medium setting for a few
minutes.
The use of “SOFT” utensils (eg, nylon, wood,
plastic) will prolong the life of the non-stick nish
although Teon
®
Platinum is metal-utensil safe.
Surface marks and scratching are normal and
will not effect the performance of the non-stick
coating. Deliberate cutting inside the Frypan is
not recommended as this will damage the nish.
Note: Even if the surface is scratched it will
not detract from the non-stick performance
of your Frypan.
