Overview

This document provides operating instructions for a gantry crane, designed for the safe and efficient handling of various materials in combination with a hoisting device. It is crucial to read and understand this manual before commissioning the tool to ensure safe operation and extended service life. The gantry crane is subject to mandatory periodic inspections by a competent control body in accordance with EN13155 + A2. Upon delivery or collection, the tool's completeness and condition, including any damage, must be checked.

Function Description:

The gantry crane is designed exclusively for the purpose of moving materials of various kinds, in conjunction with a suitable hoisting device. It is strictly forbidden to use this tool for handling loads/materials on carriers and/or auxiliary or hoisting equipment for which it was not designed. The gantry crane must NEVER be used for lifting or moving people. The nominal lifting capacity (maximum working load or WLL) must never be exceeded. The tool must never be used in a defective or incomplete state, nor may any modifications be made to its construction.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Nominal Lifting Capacity (WLL): Must not be exceeded.
  • Operating Temperature: -20 to +60 °C.
  • Environment: The tool may only be used in an explosion-proof environment.
  • Hoisting Device Compatibility: Suitable for hooking up and use with manually or electrically operated hoists.
  • Components: The manual provides a detailed list of components for assembly, including nuts, bolts, washers, locking rings, profile tubes, mounting plates, threaded rods, swivel wheels, and the I-profile. For example, the I-profile is specified as IPE 240 L3500.

Usage Features:

  • Qualified Personnel: The tool may only be used by qualified personnel who have read and understood the operating instructions.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Appropriate PPE must always be worn when using the tool. A safety helmet, safety shoes, and work gloves are the strict minimum.
  • Work Area: Only operators of the tool may be in the work area.
  • Pre-use Checks: Before each use, the tool must be checked for damage (e.g., crumpled or missing parts, cracks in the welds). Specifically, the wheels (tread, swiveling, blocking) must be checked. A damaged tool must never be used. If damage is found, the responsible personnel must be notified for further action. After any repairs, the tool must be inspected again by a recognized inspection body.
  • Hoisting Operations (with hoisting device):
    • Check the proper functioning of the hoisting device.
    • Hoisting device hooks must be of the self-locking type.
    • Hoisting equipment must be arranged so that cables or chains hang vertically and do not cross when fully loaded.
    • All hoisting components must be matched to the maximum lifting capacity of the hoisting device.
    • Ensure no unauthorized personnel are in the work area.
    • Lift loads carefully, avoiding shocks. Maintain a full view of the moving load.
    • Lifting speed must not exceed 22 m/min.
    • Avoid collisions with the load; ensure it does not get caught anywhere.
    • Plan maneuvers so the load does not pass over people or areas where an unforeseen fall would pose a risk.
    • Never make diagonal movements! Lift vertically first, then position horizontally. Never pull loads sideways.
    • Never leave the workplace while the tool is suspended (with or without load).
    • Never lift people with or with the help of a hoisting device.
    • Stop hoisting if an irregularity is detected and notify responsible personnel.
    • It is forbidden to be under the load at all times.
  • Responsibility: The use of a hoisting device, hoists, safety hooks, cables, or chains for suspension on the hoisting device is not the responsibility of Mitari Hijstechniek BV.

Maintenance Features:

  • Preventive Maintenance: The tool is not subject to preventive maintenance. However, the following guidelines are recommended:
    • Store the tool in a dry and well-ventilated area.
    • Treat any rust.
    • Always immediately replace any missing or damaged parts.
    • If damage is found, notify the responsible personnel for further action.
  • Assembly: The manual provides detailed assembly instructions, including the use of pallets, a forklift, lashing straps, and a ladder. It outlines steps for positioning the I-profile, fixed profiles, and height adjustment profiles, attaching mounting plates, and installing swivel wheels. It also describes how to connect the profiles and tubes, and how to lift the assembled structure.
  • Height Adjustment: Instructions are provided for setting the desired height, which involves blocking the swivel wheels, using a forklift to lift the I-profile assembly, removing locking pins and rings, adjusting the height, and then re-securing the position.
