Overview

This document describes the Mitsubishi Electric MJ-E130AL-H Dehumidifier, an appliance designed for use in Hong Kong and Macau.

Function Description

The Mitsubishi Electric MJ-E130AL-H is a dehumidifier that also offers air purifying and laundry drying functions. Its primary purpose is to remove moisture from the air, thereby reducing humidity and preventing mildew growth. The unit operates by drawing in moist air, cooling it to condense water vapor into droplets, and then reheating and blowing out the dehumidified air.

The dehumidifier offers several operating modes:

  • Laundry Drying Modes:
    • Intelligent Laundry: Automatically estimates drying time and stops, recommended for shortening drying time.
    • Night Laundry: Reduces blowing sound while performing automatic drying, though drying time is longer.
    • High (Continuous Operation): Provides continuous high airflow for drying.
  • Dehumidifying Modes:
    • Auto: Maintains a set humidity level by intermittently operating and automatically switching airflow rates. The unit stops if current humidity is lower than the set value and restarts if it rises.
    • High: Operates continuously with high airflow for strong dehumidification.
    • Low: Operates continuously with low airflow for quieter dehumidification.
    • Easy: Operates intermittently with automatic airflow rate switching to relieve discomfort from dampness and control room temperature rise.
  • Mildew Guard: Specifically designed to reduce mildew growth in bathrooms by removing residual moisture. The unit operates for about 4 hours after humidity decreases to 50% and then stops automatically, with operation time varying from 4 to 12 hours depending on conditions.
  • Air Purifier: Cleans the air by passing it through a pre-filter and a silver ion filter. In this mode, the dehumidifier function is disabled.

The unit also features an "Drying Inside Operation" which is recommended after each use to dry the interior and suppress mildew growth on the cooler. This operation can be activated automatically after dehumidifying ends or manually when the power is off.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model: MJ-E130AL-H
  • Power Supply: Single phase 220 V 50 Hz
  • Dehumidifying Capacity:
    • 13.0 L/day (at 26.7°C, 60% Relative humidity)
    • 22.5 L/day (at 30°C, 80% Relative humidity)
  • Power Consumption:
    • 240 W (at 26.7°C, 60% Relative humidity)
    • 290 W (at 30°C, 80% Relative humidity)
  • Recommended Room Size:
    • High: 54 m²
    • Easy: 36 m²
  • Water Tank Capacity: Stops automatically at approximately 4.7 L when full.
  • Weight: 14.4 kg
  • Dimensions (H x W x D): 594 mm x 372 mm x 281 mm
  • Operating Temperature Range: 5-35°C (below 5°C, only the blower operates to prevent water from freezing).
  • Room Temperature Rise: During operation, room temperature may rise by 2-4°C as the unit does not have a cooler function.

Usage Features

  • Control Panel and LCD Display: The unit is equipped with a control panel and an LCD display that shows the selected operating mode, current humidity, timer settings, and swing direction of the louvre. The LCD backlight turns on for approximately 10 seconds when any switch is pressed.
  • Louvre Control: The louvre can be set to swing in various directions (stopped, wide, upward, downward, rear) to suit different purposes, such as drying laundry or dehumidifying specific areas. The downward louvre has a 3-section adjustable angle for targeted airflow.
  • Timer Function:
    • OFF Timer: Can be set from 1 to 9 hours to automatically stop the unit.
    • ON Timer: Can be set from 1 to 9 hours to automatically start the unit.
  • Child Lock: A safety feature that locks the switches to prevent unintended operation, especially by children.
  • Water Tank: The unit has a removable water tank with a level window. When the tank is full, a "FULL" lamp lights up, and the unit automatically stops dehumidifying (except in Night Laundry mode where air supply continues).
  • Continuous Drainage: The unit can be set up for continuous drainage using a commercially available hose (ID 15 mm), eliminating the need to frequently empty the water tank.
  • Mobility: Equipped with wheels for easy movement. Users are advised to remove water from the tank and close the louvre before moving.
  • Humidity Indicator: Displays the approximate humidity in the room, ranging from 30% to 80%. A "High Humidity Warning" flashes when humidity exceeds 75% when the unit is off, recommending activation.
  • Low Temperature Indicator: Displays when the room temperature drops below 15°C, recommending the HIGH dehumidification mode.

Maintenance Features

  • Water Tank and Main Body: Should be wiped with a soft cloth. If dirty, the tank can be washed with water and dried. The floating element inside the tank should not be removed or dismantled.
  • Pre-filter: Recommended to be cleaned every two weeks to maintain effectiveness. It can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or washed with warm water and dried well if very dirty.
  • Silver Ion Filter: This is a consumable part with a two-layer construction (particle filter and air freshener filter). It removes pollen, dust particles, and contains deodorant and anti-bacterial agents.
    • Cleaning: Recommended to be soaked in cool or warm water for about 30 minutes every three months. Detergents, hot water, brushes, or scrubbing tools should not be used.
    • Replacement: The filter life is approximately 2 years, but it should be replaced after 8 soaks or if it turns brown/black due to cigarette smoke or dust. Replacement filters (Type: MJPR-18WXFT) can be purchased from Mitsubishi Electric Service Centre.
  • Drying Inside Operation: This function helps dry the interior of the unit to suppress mildew growth on the cooler. It is recommended after each use and lasts approximately one hour.
  • Hose Inspection (for Continuous Drainage): If continuous drainage is used, the hose should be inspected every two weeks for debris, bends, or cracks to prevent overheating or leakage.
