      Your Monessen Hearth Heater might shut off during use due to several reasons: not enough fresh air for the ODS/pilot to operate, so open a window or door for ventilation; low line pressure, in which case you should contact your local gas company; a partially clogged ODS/pilot, requiring cleaning; a defective thermopile, inspect wire connections and ensure the output is 500 mV across TH/TP and TP terminals with the ON/OFF switches off; or restrictions in incoming airflow, so check for a bottom riser on the glass door, a sunken fireplace, or excessive lava rock/cinders densely packed against the grate.

      If your Monessen Hearth Heater has a spark at the ODS/pilot but isn't igniting, consider these possibilities: - The gas supply might be off or the manual shutoff valve closed; turn on the gas supply or open the valve. - The control knob might not be in the PILOT position; turn it to PILOT. - The control knob might not be pressed in while in PILOT position; press it in. - There might be air in the gas lines from installation; continue holding down the control knob and repeat the igniting operation until the air is removed. - The ODS/pilot could be clogged; replace the ODS/pilot assembly or get it serviced. - The gas regulator setting might be incorrect; check the incoming pressure and replace the gas regulator if needed.

      If there's no spark at the ODS/pilot when you press the ignitor button on your Monessen Hearth Heater, it could be due to: an incorrectly positioned or broken ignitor electrode (replace the ignitor); the ignitor electrode not connected to the ignitor cable (reconnect the cable); a pinched or wet ignitor cable (free the cable if pinched); a broken ignitor cable (replace the cable); or a bad piezo ignitor (replace the ignitor).
