Overview

The Monkey Banana Turbo Series consists of professional digital bi-amplified studio reference monitors and a subwoofer, designed for precise audio monitoring in various environments such as near-field monitoring, broadcast and TV control rooms, surround sound systems, and home studios. The series aims to deliver pure, original sound without additional coloration, overcoming limitations of conventional studio monitors in digital audio environments.

Function Description:

The Turbo Series monitors are self-powered, accepting both line-level analog and S/PDIF digital audio signals. They feature a wide-range frequency response, high SPL output, and broad bandwidth within a compact enclosure. The system employs two extraordinary drivers and unique crossover technology to achieve a stable and balanced low-mid frequency response, along with defined mid and high-frequency responses. Both drivers are magnetically shielded for desktop music production. The subwoofer (Turbo10s) is a digital active subwoofer designed to extend the low-frequency response of the system.

    • Power Switch: Turns the unit on and off.
    • AC Inlet: Accepts a standard IEC-type power cable.
  • Enclosure Design: Minimum Diffraction Enclosure and advanced directivity waveguide technologies provide excellent frequency balance. The enclosure uses high acoustic efficiency MDF and unique interior reinforcement to absorb vibration and impact, enhancing stability. The custom design on the front panel aids in diffraction and benefits stereo imaging.
  • Woofer Design: Features a specially-designed ferrite magnet motor structure for high power handling and linear excursion, generating significant magnetic flux. Steam flow balancing technology with five 6mm diameter vents on the voice coil bobbin maintains consistent air pressure in the magnetic gap, acts as an efficient cooling system, and eliminates unbalanced air pressure mechanical distortion. A 15mm vent in the pole piece provides additional cooling. The voice coil winding height of 14mm ensures linear operation. The spider uses a three-corner support structural design with high restoring and flexible cone materials to maintain voice coil position and prevent fatigue. The cone's weight design minimizes the ratio to the voice coil, and its compound rigidity material minimizes partition movement. The linear cone shape design creates a broad sound field, allowing clear sound even at 40 degrees off-axis. A unique cone material incorporating PP and ceramic provides high conductivity and aesthetic sound.
  • Tweeter Design: Utilizes a new NdFeB neodymium magnet circuit, producing a large-oriented magnetic field with a flux density of 13500 Gauss for sufficient driving force. Aerospace materials technology with nano-magnetic particles evenly applied to the magnetic system loop improves thermal conductivity by 600% compared to air, enhancing voice coil cooling and doubling input power. Ferrofluid adjusts damping, reducing Q value, improving transient response, and making the voice coil suspended for automatic positioning, reducing friction and magnetic yoke coil occurrence, thereby minimizing speaker distortion, especially high-order harmonic distortion.
  • Power Amplifier: Active crossover networks and power amplifiers are specifically designed for woofers and tweeters. The network distributes low, mid, and high frequencies to driver components to reduce distortion and sound loss, achieving a naturally balanced sound. Two separate power amplifiers in a high-end bi-amp structure drive the woofer and tweeter separately at low-rated distortion for powerful, ultra-crisp sound.
  • System Setup:
    • Unpacking: Handle with care, holding both sides of the monitor to avoid touching speaker cones.
    • Placement: Position monitors to form an equilateral triangle with the listener. The top of the woofers should be level with the listener's ears. Place the Turbo series vertically with the woofer at the bottom; horizontal placement is not recommended.
    • Subwoofer Placement (2-channel system): In a 2-channel system with a subwoofer, the common listening distance is 1 to 1.5 meters from the left and right speakers. The listener and speakers should form an equilateral triangle.
    • Surround Sound Placement (5.1 system): Listening distance for all speakers is typically 1.5 to 2 meters. Left and right speakers form an equilateral triangle with the mix position. The center speaker is placed halfway between left and right speakers at the same distance from the mix position. Left and right surround speakers are placed at the same distance as the front speakers, positioned 110 to 150 degrees relative to the center speaker. Subwoofer position can be adjusted for best bass response.
    • Audio Connections: Ensure the main power switch is off before connecting the supplied IEC power cable. Follow the "last on first off" rule for power amplifiers: turn on mixer and other equipment first, then Turbo series; turn off Turbo series first, then mixer and other equipment. Use high-quality balanced or unbalanced cables for input connections.
    • Hum Reduction: Avoid running AC power cords parallel to input cables; if crossing, do so at a 90-degree angle to minimize induced hum. Balanced input connectors provide common mode rejection.
