Function Description:
The LED Light Strip provides RGB+W (Red, Green, Blue + White) lighting, allowing for a wide spectrum of colors and tunable white light. It can be controlled via a physical controller, the Monster Smart app, or compatible voice assistants like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri. The strip is designed to be water-resistant, making it suitable for various environments, including decks, patios, walkways, and large indoor spaces. Users can customize lighting effects, set schedules, and group multiple devices for synchronized control.

Usage Features:
Getting Started & Setup:
- Uncoiling: Before use, uncoil the light strip to prevent overheating.
- App Download: Download the Monster Smart app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Network Connection: Ensure your phone/tablet is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and Bluetooth is enabled for easier pairing.
- Account Creation: Open the Monster Smart app and create an account.
- Power On: Connect the power adapter to a wall outlet. The light should turn on; if not, press the multifunction button twice.
- Pairing Mode: Press and hold the multifunction button for 5-6 seconds until the light blinks, indicating pairing mode.
- Device Addition (App): In the app, select "+" in the upper right corner of the home screen to add a new device. The app will detect the Wi-Fi+BLE enabled device; click "Go to add" and then "+" to confirm.
- Wi-Fi Configuration: Confirm your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, enter the password, and click "Confirm."
- Customization: Once connected, confirm or change device settings, including renaming and assigning to a room.
Installation:
- Location Selection: Determine the installation location, ensuring it's within Wi-Fi range and the power cord can reach an outlet without creating a tripping hazard.
- Mounting: Use the included mounting clips and screws to secure the light strip. Place one clip approximately every 20"/50cm for even support. For curves or corners, place clips closer together.
- Water-Tight Connection: Connect the power adapter to the cable port and screw on the water-tight locking cap until secure.
- Power Outlet: Connect the other end of the adapter to a powered wall outlet. For outdoor use, this must be a GFCI protected, hooded outlet.
- POWER: Double-click (click twice quickly) to power on or off the device.
- SCENES: Click to cycle through 8 preset scenes. This also turns the device off. Custom edits of scenes require Wi-Fi pairing and the app.
- RESET: Press and hold to reset the device and enter pairing mode for Wi-Fi network connection.
App Control: Edit Scenes:
The Monster Smart app offers extensive control over lighting functions and scene customization:
- RESET: Reset to default scene settings.
- PICTURE: Edit the scene thumbnail.
- NAME: Edit the scene name.
- COLORS: Add, edit, arrange, and adjust colors.
- INDIVIDUAL COLOR ADJUSTMENTS:
- TIP (Brightness 0%): "Off" color.
- TIP (Saturation 0%): White color.
- MODE: Choose between 3 color changing modes: Static, Fade, and Flash.
- SPEED: Adjust the color transition speed.
- SAVE: Submit and save your custom scene.
Grouping Devices:
Multiple light strips can be grouped in the app to control them as one. Click the settings button in the upper right corner and then "Create Group."
- NOTE: Grouping different Monster Smart Illuminessence devices with varying features may cause communication issues with Scenes. For best results, group identical products or control different items using only Color settings, not Scenes.
Voice Control (Optional):
- Amazon Alexa:
- Open the Alexa app, go to "Skills" in the menu.
- Search for and choose "MONSTER SMART."
- Enable the skill and authorize your account using your Monster Smart login.
- Use commands like: "Turn on my Light Strip," "Set my Light Strip to blue," "Set my Light Strip to 50% brightness."
- Google Assistant:
- Open the Google Home app, go to the Home menu, and tap "+."
- Click "Set up device."
- Click "Have something already set up?"
- Search for and choose "MONSTER SMART" and authorize your account using your Monster Smart login.
- Use commands like: "Turn on my Light Strip," "Set my Light Strip to blue," "Set my Light Strip to 50% brightness."
- Siri (iOS 12 or later):
- Open the Monster Smart app, go to the "Smart" menu, tap "+" to create a new Tap to Run Smart Scene.
- Tap "launch Tap To Run" and fill out the information.
- Once the Smart Scene is created and saved, click "Add to Siri" at the bottom of the screen.
- Select your new Tap To Run Smart Scene from the list and click "Add to Siri."
- Create a custom phrase to say to Siri to run your Smart Scene.
Maintenance Features:
Water-Resistance:
- The Light Strip is IP65 water-resistant, suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
- The power adapter is NOT water-resistant.
- To ensure maximum water protection:
- Ensure the power adapter connection is tightly sealed.
- The power adapter must be connected to a GFCI protected hooded flush type cover plate receptacle marked “Wet Location” while in use outdoors.
- Do not submerge the strip, controller, or adapter in water.
- Do not cut, puncture, or otherwise damage the strip.
Cleaning:
- Use a clean, soft cloth to clean the device.
- Do not use any corrosive cleaners/oils.
Safety Precautions:
- Keep these instructions for future reference.
- Uncoil the light strip before use.
- Do not drop, puncture, or disassemble the product.
- Use the product only as outlined in this guide.
- Avoid long exposure to direct sunlight.
- Do not use in small, enclosed locations that limit airflow or trap excess heat.
- Do not expose to open flames or use near fire.
- Do not use in a strong magnetic field.
- Not for emergency lighting/exits.
- Do not allow small children to operate or install unsupervised.
Troubleshooting:
- Connectivity Issues:
- Ensure phone/tablet is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Enable Bluetooth and location services.
- If using a mixed 2.4GHz/5GHz network, try AP pairing mode:
- Press and hold the pairing button until the LED is slowly blinking.
- In the app, select "+" then "Lighting (Wi-Fi)."
- Click "Net Pairing Mode" in the upper right to switch to AP mode.
- Confirm slow blinking, verify network, enter Wi-Fi password, and click "Confirm."
- Follow on-screen instructions for setup via wireless access point.
- If issues persist with a mixed network, access router settings or contact your ISP to create a separate 2.4GHz network.
- Cutting the Light Strip:
- The light strip can be cut to shorter lengths.
- WARNING: Once cut, the strip will no longer be water-resistant or covered under the Monster warranty.
- Remove the end cap and replace it on the new end using waterproof glue.
- Attaching Additional Strips:
- Due to the water-resistant design, this strip is not equipped with an expansion plug.
- Group multiple devices in the app for control (refer to page 8 for grouping instructions).
