Why is my Monterey 305 SS engine running too hot?

  An engine may overheat due to several reasons: the raw water pick up strainer might be clogged with marine growth, the raw water pump impeller could be worn or damaged, or the engine thermostat might be faulty and needs replacement. Clean the pick up, repair the pump, or replace the thermostat to resolve the issue.
